Your thread has made me chuckle so much, I'm a TA too, for the first few pages i thought we might actually work at the same school :-)
Well done on trying to deal with the debt, I'm going to subscribe to your thread to see how you get on xx0 -
Hi Enchanted, what's the debt total at the moment, it must've come down from 40830, hopefully you're under 40k now.
Maybe when you get to 35k you can treat yourself to something lovely??
I've got loads of clothes and nothing to wear as well, will have to have a clear out of the wardrobe and work out what I can sell or give to charity.
Need to be more organised and plan my work wear as well, thanks for inspiration!0 -
Oh Jooooooooxxxxxxx *sigh*, you do make a compelling argument :-). I know it makes sense..... Under 35k, before I treat myself!
Truthfully, I'm not sure what me new figure is? I think I will wait until the end of January to obtain an accurate total. All this months payments will be made by then. It will be interesting to see.
Thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow :-)
Hi there, Cuddlyrunner :-). Nice to see another fellow TA. There are a couple of us pottering about. I'm sure we could trade war stories, as most schools sound pretty similar. Welcome to my Yellow Brick Road and enchanting fairytale life.........
Well, today has seen my return to the Emerald City. I was actually ready to be there..... I like my routines :-). Anyway, the Wizard has changed to a Sorceress, for the time being. The Wizard left in a big balloon to go to Africa, to tend to the ill. I wonder what will happen in The Land of Oz now??????? Hummmmmmmmmm, me wonders?
Had a great laugh with Scarecrow, we rehashed the night of the Christmas 'Do' and cringed at some of the antic of our collegues.......a few of them even hesitated to have their coffee in the staff room, for fear of a reprisal. Nothing bad happened, just people whom you thought were reserved came out of their shell. This is by no means a bad thing, it shows they are human, just like the rest of us. Looking back it was a really great night :-)
Ok, money talk!!!!!! I guess I must :-)
Found another £1 at the bottom of Munchkin's school bag :-) added to the pot........ £13 total found lurking here and there now!
No Spend Day today too........ 2/15. Whoop De Whoop!!!!
And that my dears, is just about it :-))))))
Another day closer to being debt free Xxx. For you too :-)
Take Care,

I have to admit, I've been avoiding posting on my diary, since my last entry.
After Jox asking me what my debt total is now, I decided to have a little tot up....... It doesn't look good, folks. In fact it's worse than it has ever been. £43500 now!!!
I'm feeling very contrite about it all. I really thought I could deal with this..... Maybe I'm fooling myself? Anyway, I asked myself why has it gone up so much...... A'hhhhh yes, robbing Peter to pay Paul will do that..... I'm thinking, rather foolishly, if I take £300 from that one and pay that one, then withdraw it again and pay back into original account, it will counter balance........ Errrrrrrrrrr NO! Stupid, stupid mentality. I've learnt a lesson the hard way!
Once been taught a lesson, I very rarely, if ever repeat it. I WON'T be repeating this one. Very expensive, even though I do say so myself.
Spent a LOT, let me say that again, a LOT of time reading about DMP 's and wondering if that's our best option? Hubby seems to think it's going to be a doddle. But, I'm not feeling it. My gut reaction is to stick this out to the bitter end. I make a revised snowball and it says we could be out of debt, just making minimum payments for now by April 2016...... 4 years and 2 months. That sounds ok...... Only we have a significant shortfall each month.
When I calculated our SOA on the Stepchange page, I included the sun and the moon, and tried to calculate bare minimum wages.... It's often more than I predicted and there was a shortfall. BUT, I want to plod on trying to do this on my own for now.
Two loans finish this time next year.... Leaving £190 pm disposable and the following year another loan ends, releasing £257.
I know our credit ratings are shot to hell at the mo. But, I want NO more credit and I love my home waaaaaayyyy to much to move :-). So I'm not to jittery about that at the moment. I just want to move forward, even if it's just half an inch.
I have defaulted on two credit cards this month by 4 days. I needed to wait until money was in the account before I paid them. I added on the estimated charges to the minimum total to try and offset them. I know this isnt ideal. Heck, I'm totally mortified. At the end of the day, I have to hold my hands up and take responsibility for this and try a dig a way out.
As much as I talk about Net A Porter and Louboutins ect...... It's only in a dream like fashion...... One day!
I feeling like I've totally let myself down, I need to brush myself off and start all over again x
Ok, I'm ready for my telling off now :-). My hands are out turned, ready for my spanking
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well in these treacherous conditions?

Sending you hugs.
January is always the worst month for paying bills, things are so tight just after christmas.
Can't advise on the DMP, personally its not something I would want to do, but can understand why many do, paying off debt is a bt of a roller coaster, lots of ups and downs.
Take care.0 -
Sorry to hear you are feeling carp and things are tough. Big hugs!
I can't advise on a dmp either as it's not something I've ever looked in to, and I do think it's something that depends on personal circumstances and choice. However, I do know a little bit about generating extra funds to debt bust! Have you had a look on the up your income board or the 'Make £10 per day' challenge over on the debtfree wannabe board? Do you have any gold jewellery to sell or indeed anything to sell on eb@y? Do you do online surveys in exchange for vouchers? Have you done a cupboard/freezer inventory so you know exactly what you have and can perhaps trim some money out of your shopping budget?
Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs! Sometimes though we can't see the woods for the trees and it helps that someone points out the obvious! XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Thanks Girlies, I really appreciate the support Xx
I'm not into the DMP either. The main reason is that we have a share option that at the moment will pay off about 25% of our debts in April 2015, which will go along way to our DFD :-). I'm guessing that we would be asked to stop paying on a DMP and put the money towards the debts instead. As shares are not great at the moment, they can only start to get slowly better over the next two years that the plan is running.
I'm really surprised at how much I'm opening up on my diary. I don't usually admit to feeling carp, I would rather plaster a smile on my face and play Pollyanna. It's really quite refreshing for me. Your support and acceptance is very humbling. Thanking you in abundance x
