    hi

    i'm now in normal mode

    boots up ok

    click on start ok

    click on control panel just hangs

    after hours and hours i've managed to uninstall rapport

    now i can't get onto ie google page says ie cannot dispaly webpage yet it says sooed 54 mbps / signal strength excellent / status connected

    There's still signs of kaspersky which won't help things.

    Run the Kaspersky removal tool.

    You can download the file using your desktop and then transfer it to the laptop via CD or Flash drive.

    i have a 2year paid licence with kaspersky with another 12 months left never had a problem with kaspersky before should i just ignore kaspersky now?

    I'd stick with avast for now as everything is working, presumably speedily?

    these don't need to be running at startup, use msconfig startup tab to disable

    anything needed can be run manually as required.

    uninstall anything google related

    delete the google update task from c:\windows\tasks

    fix ctfmon, and java - If you have a java icon in control panel, click it, advanced, misc - untick java quick starter, and untick place icon in system tray. Disable error reporting - control panel, system, advanced, error reporting, select disable error reporting and leave notify me when a critical error occurs ticked.
