    i think i'm doing ok i got as far as number 5

    some programmes i could uninstall but a couple i can't 1 being kaspersky i can't uninstall it as a pop up says

    windows installer service could not be accessed

    i'm still in safe mode

    That's not too bad, when you say your pc is slow, do you mean just on the internet ?

    The installer service doesn't run in safe mode.

    were those commit figures from safe mode, need normal mode figures if so

    If you typed them correctly, you have 2GB of ram already, so low ram shouldn't be an issue

    can't get into normal mode when i boot up laptop just hangs works very fast when in safe mode tho

    has normal mode got worse, ie hangs completely now, as opposed to slow before.

    got the reinstallation cd?

    you are completely unable to boot in normal mode now? what happens on screen, hangs forever or for minutes
