My neighbours are unbelievable

  • You know weird as it sounds, I doubt it's a wind up. I had a similar thing happen to me in a flat I just moved out of, but with my wifi signal.

Someone showed me a way to find out if anyone was stealing my signal and using it, and there were folk doing it.

So I changed the password, and not 20minutes later, a bloke appeared at my door asking for the new password.

I was amazed. I said no. He said well I've been using it ever since I moved here and you've never complained before. I felt like asking him for half the money for the bills!

Even after I said (quite politely) no, he still stood and argued with me, saying that if he wanted to he could have the council force me to give him the password because he would have something equal to squatters rights after this long.

Some people are actually this stupid, but at least it's good for a laugh.

If I was you I would take out an injunction or restraining order banning the neighbour from contacting you or from coming onto your property.

I would start keeping notes of any problems, and if the father is claiming incapacity benefit for a bad back yet does weight lifting, etc, I would be inclined to report him to the Benefit Fraud Hotline. There number is 0800 854 440.

I would also photograph him in his back garden when he is lifting weights as this will prove he is a benefit cheat. Make sure if you take the fotos that your camera can display a date and time when it is printed as most cameras nowadays do. This will make it easier for Benefit Fraud to prosecute him.

Its absolutely rotten having rude and abusive neighbours, I hope my information can help you!!

    I am absolutely gobsmacked.

I've clearly lived a sheltered life amongst sensible and reasonable people. I honestly did not think there were people in the world like this. :rotfl:

During this time our next-door neighbours were complaining about the noise and the dust ...
"It's a terraced street you need permission from the houses next door to get that done or summink right? You havent asked us"
They've been round again telling us if we don't remove the insulation they are going to take us to court. For what reason I asked, they said "for loss of heat and money"
Which all translates as "We want compensation".

Start building a file on these scumbags.

In the meantime, prepare for malicious complaints, a letter from some sleazy No-win, No-fee lawyer, and possibly some Criminal Damage.

Quick point - the loft space will be seperated - fire regs -otherwise fire could spread from one property straight into the other.

Ours are only seperated every 2nd house. Fire regs weren't so strict in 1911. Though the fire walls are brick and go above the roof, London terrace style.

"So you need to remove it because it's law that all terraced houses have to share the heat"
Ha Ha. Just occasionally, it cuts both ways.

Both my neighbours are on the social security gravy train. No problem with heating bills there it seems, as their houses are positively tropical.

I look on it as some of my taxes coming back.

    !!!!!! is the 'law centre'?!

Seriously, my Mrs and I are peeing ourselves here. She's just said "that's cheered me up" She's been off sick today, first time in years. Hard working and honest she is, not like your neighbours!

It's a Law Centre, a centre where people get legal advice and help.

Actually before my neighbours moved in I'd have hmm'd over this story..........No more !
Mine are as bad as yours but no resident kids (one who was removed from the druggie mother visits now and again) and more dogs.

What I really don't understand is how people stay living in a street where the rest of the street hates them and no-one speaks to them and it really doesn't bother them.

I'm at the end of my rope and considering reporting mine -something I honestly never thought I'd ever do.

Best laugh I've had in ages. It takes me back to when I worked for the DHSS in the '80s and some of the claimants we had to deal with. One guy got drunk and smashed all the windows in his flat. He then left his heating on full blast for months. When the huge bill arrived he brought it in to our office telling us we had to pay it ! We died laughing at that one as well.
