April 2013 weddings

Faith, I think I would just plan as though the +1 will be attending and then deal with it nearer the time if they are in an 'off period' then. At my meeting yesterday the lady said if someone cancels more than about a week before, they can't refund the money but they will offset the cost in another way e.g. put it towards a couple of bottles of wine or something. Do you think your venue would do this? She spoke as though it was pretty standard practice. And then if they cancelled nearer the time when it was too late to cancel their meal, she said people often serve that meal to the photographer or something like that.0

:j The invites are now in the post box
It was quiet at work today, and I expected this so took everything in with me!! lol I had bought a calligraphy style pen but on trialing it out I decided against it....it was too thick and looked stupid in practice so decided on a trusty black biro :rotfl:They looked fantastic!
I can't wait to see who logs onto our website first! lol
We also are on a low budget! We have foam flowers, also from Ebay! I actually won my boquet for £8.50! For some reason it had been listed as auction rather than BIN, and I put my bid in 20 second from the end and won! When it turned up I was so chuffed with it! Also ordered bridesmaid boquet, and 6 button holes for £22 from ebay...again these were a steal! They look fantastic! Our mother's corsages were about £11 for the 2...again you wouldn't think it! And for our child bridesmaid she has a wand...its purples and lilac's as thats our theme, a wicker heart with a butterfly on - again matching our theme..its lovely!
Ebay really has been my friend in planning this wedding!! lol
Hopefully this weekend we will find bridesmaid dresses! Also going over to Makro to look at getting our sweets for the sweety buffet! (They should have a long enough date now)
Still undecided on my hair, and the music for the registry office :jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

I'm also having a sweet buffet, my sister has an account with Bookers. just need to find something nice to put them in.
Think most of my bits and bobs will be bought from ebay. Been looking at all the flowers and agree that some are very good prices
Just got the quote back from my cake lady and its cheaper than i thought so thats a bonus!0 -
Hi all
I'm getting married on the 12th April @ 3pm having a late wedding then going to a local Social club for the reception only having 30 during the day and about double that for the evening.
Having a little bit of a blank on what I should be doing now this is what I have done so far.
I have got the dress just need to find someone to alter it as need a lot taken off the bottom. Have a DJ booked and a caterer booked for buffet although we will need to get a few things to add to it for the evening guests.
I will send out invitations next week, have seen some bridesmaid dresses on ebay which will need to order very soon although struggling to find a flower girl dress to tie in with colour scheme (Cadburys Purple) and that I like.
I live away from my family so my mum is putting no input into the wedding and feeling a little bit WHAT DO I DO NOW.
You all look very organised and feel there is so much I should be doing but don’t really know where to start.0 -
Hello Charley,
We seem to be having very similar weddings. I have a 3pm wedding on 5th April, with social club for evening do, cadburys purple theme too lol.
Have you sorted table / room decorations yet? I've just managed to get some large crystal things for free to go in some fishbowls, going to put a purple flower in each and put them on mirror plates with purple scatter crystals too.
Still sorting caterers and DJ out! I am not sure about bridesmaid/flower girl dresses either. I think i want to go with a big flower pattern on the dress with it being spring but can't find anything
Not got my dress yet either.....

I feel really behind, only just sorting the invites, though most people know the date already and its mainly close family and friends invited
Anyone else doing this on a tight budget and any tips?
Look on preloved - type "Purple wedding" into the search and lots of things will come up!Getting married to Mr M [STRIKE]August[/STRIKE] April 2013!:TWedding diet - 16lbs:jRachel x0 -
Charley, we are date and time twins!:rotfl:
My OH doesn't seem to want to do anything wedding-y at the moment. I need him to look at the venue forms we need to send off, and I want him to sort the kilts out too but he is in a bad mood so I will leave it for now I think....
How long do wedding rings take to arrive into the shop once you order them, does anyone know? We haven't even looked at rings, let alone ordered them.Getting married to Mr M [STRIKE]August[/STRIKE] April 2013!:TWedding diet - 16lbs:jRachel x0 -

Ours took about 4 weeks, but I do have unusually small fingers so it was an uncommon size. If you were ordering a more standard size I think it would be more like 2 weeks0 -

My OH is starting to get a bit more interested now. maybe they just need to warm up to it?!
Oh and my ring took a week to come in, I picked it up yesterday
Have decided on a guestbook, so need to order that.
My light in the box order came, in 3 days!!! Loving the 80% off expidited shipping :rotfl:
The favour boxes we've got to take to Vegas are so cute, I love them!
The diamante trim for the cake is great too, although the favour boxes for the reception are a little large so have ordered some a whole lot of samples from a UK supplier to try.
Are you ladies getting a bag? I've seen a few I like, one in particular I love but typically as it's described as a 'bridal bag' it's quite dearAm going to keep an eye out for something cheaper and try and talk myself out of it :T
Anyone else going to the National Wedding show in February? I saw a veil there at the September but I've just found out that the supplier doesn't have a shop and I don't want to buy it without seeing it first. The supplier will be there in Feb so might go along and get it then!Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0
