So, we have done ok on the grocery challenge, way below budget even though we 'splashed out' on mcdonalds on bank holiday:rotfl: My OH said he didn't have one in ages so I just went along and had a wrap, while our Monkey said he absolutely is not touching any of the junk food and opted for just mineral water instead. Hmm, it was supposed to be me on diet...
Diet wise - I'm still miserably the same at 73kg.

Money wise - had the gamble with home insurance. I got one that is £100 more than my renewal BUT with a £50 beat renewal guarantee. They will pay out in 60 days, I just send papers and wait for replay. If they find some T&C to avoid paying it out I will be proper angry. Like, couldn't they just ask for the renewal papers as a proof and than make me pay discounted amount? No, I had to pay the full, overpriced one first and wait for 60 days to find out if I maybe I miscalculated:mad:

The mortgage yearly statement came today as well, very depressing. All those payments and hardly any dent in the capital. I'm so tempted to get all the savings and make OP with them, but I know I will need money shortly, like next spring, so I cannot do this. :(

My ISA still not opened. no time!

From March 2012: Mortgage OP: £160 pcm

  • Hi Weronika, hope the insurance gamble pays off. We have that to come soon so will have to scour the sites. I haven't heard of that type of approach, in terms of beat renewal guarantee so will look into that as well.

Good luck on the diet but with a little one to look after I am not surprised you have no time and are tired. I think you have been amazing getting stuck into so much this quickly.

Grocery challenge went well and I loved the McD and mineral water story - how a poppet.

    Hi Tilly,
thanks for comments. I was tearing my hair out, coz nothing was cheaper than my current provider, than I found out about post office £50 guarantee + TCB £40 cashback. If they approve my renewal papers - you need to send originals - and accept that it is like for like insurance I might be £90 better off:D If not than I have lost £100....

I tried calling them to see if I can get approval first, but sadly no. So gamble it is, or rather calculated risk.

saving wise, I just run total of all the vouchers and cashbacks I got since starting here and it is a nice £315!:j
I've spend it already though:D I got around £250 still to come so happy indeed:j

Monkey and Ladybird sleeping, so I got time to do some money saving:D
The £315 includes saving on the phone line I just paid for year in advance and canceling call package. So that's my £100 saved for today:cool:
If I'm lucky tomorrow to get them sleep same time, I'll apply for the ISA, finally.

Updated signature to show the tiny dent a year of payments made. Very upsetting, but I guess, at least I am getting there.
On the more upsetting news, OH got parking fine today. Grrr!

On the good side is £200 switcher incentive:D

And as we decided, all extra money goes for treats, so with this incentive and money I saved on phone line I bought new shiny tablet. It's nice when things are 'free' :D

Home insurance gamble paid off- I got confirmation letter that we qualify.still awaiting actual refund, but all is well.
Ladybird is growing well, absolute angel as long as I don't touch milk, so my beloved porridge is out of question.
Weight wise, just below 73kg so nothing to shout about.I had couple of rough weeks, so pleased to not gain any.
Mortgage is depressingly the same, just standard £160 OP. Better than nothing I guess.

I just updated signature, to reflect another tiny ddent in a mortgage. Still on maternity leave, so no extra income to overpay the mortgage.
Ladybird is growing well, started on ssolids already, I got tons of clothes to sell on eBay but no takers.
Instead of losing weight I gained some, and only just came back to my 73.5kg. Very frustrating.
Home insurance through post office paid £50 difference and the £40 cashback, so can recommend them, good deal:-)

I need to go first thing on Mon to hv for prescriptions for baby stuff. I thought, sod it and I'll just buy it, butt it's flipping expensiv, £10 per bottle of oilatum bath thingy? No, thank you. we were at Legoland discovery in Trafford ctr today, and I can tell you tthe annual ticket is a vevery good value- £16 one entry or £25 for a year is no brainer really!
After congratulating myself on low spend week, I promptly went to Aldi and spend £10 than to morrison for bread, spend £10 as well and at home I realised no bread, which wwas the reason to get out of the house in the first place! Shoot!
Ladybird accepted gracefully that she is no longer co-sleeping with me and goes to sleep in heher own room without a whimper, but sleeping through the night is still a hhit and miss.
My laptop died and I write from ttablet, which is difficult on this forum for some reason, I cannot go back to change those double letters. So I sound like deranged chicken:-)
Weight was down this morning, so of course today I overeaten.
I'm looking forward but dreading as well going back to work after New Year. I have to find the work first!
