The thing with books is you can usually pick them up quite cheaply second hand if you want to read them again, thats what helped me have a good clear out... that I knew I could spend about 50p and buy a new copy if I really wanted to. Good luck0

Thanks ammonite - I am trying to do that with new books as well - before buying any Kindle books I see whether I can get them cheaper secondhand through GreenMetropolis or Amazon. I buy whichever is cheapest and resell the paper copies.
Halifax reward through today, £2.50 into the EF and OP Pot (plus a small amount extra to bring them up to round figures).
Feel like I've been run over today, I'll get no sympathy at work but it's tough coming back after a holiday0 -
Just about going into shock - I had a busy day at work! Typical that it would have to be the day after my hols - maybe I should only work every second week? :rotfl:
Good day on the MFW front - didn't spend anything, took a packed lunch, converted the leftover Euros and paid £20 into both the OP Pot and the EF, we've also just broken through the £30 barrier for Nectar vouchers, which will be claimed and offset against our next food shop. Also got a 200 Nectar points off a £50 spend voucher yesterday, so may stock up on meat and fish assuming I can get a cheap delivery slot.
Also very pleased to see that Quidco have *finally* authorised a £45 cashback for an insurance policy that had been taking months to chase. Just one £60 claim to follow up and I'll not have any outstanding cashback to receive.
Paid off the driving lessons and holiday spends from the credit cards, with savings all tucked away and just a little more to spare.
Right - what's next to achieve?0 -
Decided against stocking up with Sainsbury's, freezer is already groaning with turkey, fish, quiches and veggie sausages!
Found some spare money in a savings account - £18.79 into both the OP Pot and the EF
Expecting things to slow down now for the next few weeks, I'm working for the next 11? days in a row, so no time to spend more...
Must start job seeking again, but first to get some work done.0 -
Good decision about Sainsburys if your freezer is already jam packed! Well done for your low spends and don't work too hard!0

I actually got quite a lot done yesterday, not so busy today.
Ended up finding extra spare money yesterday (yay!) £52 into OP Pot, £22 into EF. Also managed a NSD and am on one again today
Only £2 into each of the pots today, but I was *amazed* to discover that I've been awared a pay rise of just over 4%! Apparently because I work for a private sector firm that contracts for a council, they use the council scales and I was due an incremental increase...
It's a one-off (now at the top of the scale), but it's an extra £55 in my monthly wage, a small increase to my pension and a tiny increase to how quickly my student loan will be gone.
I will save all of the increase - will up my S&S ISA direct debit by the amount as soon as they take the first payment.
Off to do lots of productive things - my boss is in a bad mood because she has a contract and gets nowtJust being glib, I know how lucky I am to get anything in the current climate.
