Tip Number 4. The first thing you've probably noticed is that there are no buttons underneath the touchpad. Everything is controlled by 2 or 3 finger taps, 2 or 3 finger swipes or swirls. So, to make life easier and give you that 'right click' function you might be used to on Windows do the following....

-Click on the apple icon in the top left of your screen.
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at021258.png

    -Click on 'System Preferences'
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at021316.png

    OR

-Go to your dock at the bottom the screen (if you haven't moved it) and click on 'Launchpad'
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at021346.png

-You will then be presented with a screen like this
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at030832.png

    -Then select 'System Preferences'
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at021405.png

-Once in 'System Preferences' you will be presented with a screen like this. Click on 'Track Pad'
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at022042.png

-Which will get you to this screen
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at022229.png

-Make sure there is a 'tick' in 'Secondary Click' and 'tick' "Click or Tap with two fingers'
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at022308.png

-Once this is done, if you tap, or click two fingers on the touchpad you will get the same options as you would using the right click button on a mouse etc. If you highlight a word or a phrase on an website and double tap/click on the highlighted area you can select 'Search With Google' to save you having to go to Google and type it in.;)

    Tip Number 5.

The Dock at the bottom of your screen is annoying, just sitting there blocking part of your screen isn't it?:p

You can do numerous with things with the Dock. You can make the icons smaller, or bigger, you can remove things from the dock you won't use often (these can be got from 'Launchpad' if you do need them.) You can even make it disappear and reappear as if by magic. When you move your cursor away from the bottom of the screen the Dock will hide itself, move the cursor to the bottom of the screen and it will reveal itself. Clever eh?

-To do this, go to 'System Preferences' again and click on 'Dock'.
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at022042-1.png

-You will then be presented with this where you can change all kinds of settings relating to the Dock.
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at024029.png

-To hide and show the dock automatically tick the box.
    ScreenShot2012-02-22at024029-1.png

Simples, even Westvleteren could do it.:j

    Tip Number 6.

    Watch these videos.

    http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/whats-new/#video-lion

This one starts at 2:50 in and unless you or your DH/DS/DD have got iPhones/iPads then there is no need to watch it all the way though as it will tell you about iCloud and other useful features.

    http://www.apple.com/apple-events/wwdc-2011/

And take a look at this..

Thank you so much HC - I have had a MacBook Pro for a month and just getting used to it - I think I should to go visit the Apple store for their free sessions and learn more

Helen, I agree with others that you must attend the mtg on friday. seems to be good advice given on here. a horrid situation for you, hope it works out.

Also, if you get union representation, then you can ask them to request a postponement to the meeting on friday.
You should be allowed an adjournment because of the short notice, but you will still have to have the meeting eventually.

If you are not currently in a union, go and speak with them anyway. They also act for non union members and you can always join immediately and they should still act for you.

Hi,i do feel sorry for your situation but what a silly thing to do.If you work for a company you have to protect your job and future refrences.Looks to me like someone has spotted your husband and put 2 and 2 together and reported you.I think you will have to see what happens on friday[ but remember they might have camera footage ]and learn for the future.Sorry if i sound so blunt .

Actually you are wrong. Very wrong. Out of 'uniform' you are just another customer and are entitled to the same compensation if you get overcharged. Tesco also can't hold you responsible for someone elses actions.

If they sack the OP I think she'd have pretty good grounds for unfair dismissal IMO.

Had to laugh at your post above MMW - my DD1 is exactly the same, and even worse when I'm wombling - I am, apparently, the most embarrassing mother!

I also had a giggle - my DD is the same too

How rude of me :o, good morning everyone

Was hoping to finally get out of the house and go to t's today as I have vouchers burning a hole in my pocket and need milk.
But as is he story of my life, I am poorly again :(

I developed a sharp pain yesterday underneath the rib cage at the back on the right side. After calling out of hours last night and speaking with a GP, was told to take pain killers.

It seemed to subside a bit until about 2.30 this morning, when I was in agony and again had to call the out of hours.
This time a GP attended, only to tell me he had no idea what was wrong and to take more pain killers and contact my GP in the morning for a second opinion. He said the only other thing I could do was go to a&e.

Managed to sleep sitting upright (can't lay down) for about 2hrs and am now waiting a c/b from my GP, before a possible visit to a&e :(

Still pain killers appear to be working and the pain has subsided a bit, but they are def only masking the pain, as opossed to curing it.

So another day stuck in the house :(

Perhaps I should just go to the vets and asked to be put down instead, lol. I feel just like a Raggy doll sometimes (the cartoon, if any of you know it), like I've come out of the reject bin :rotfl::rotfl:

  • helen sounds a very awkward situation and as has been said you cant deny you knew anything as you took the phones back, is the store you returned then to one you are known as an employee at someone has obviously recognised you as you said your DH paid cash and used a fake addy did he use a tesco card? (unless he was recognised and the fact he used fake details flagged suspicion so the resiept was tracked in some way). that does not really look good as it implies he was trying to hide his identity. i hope you dont lose your job over this it must be very stressfu land upsetting for you. i would definately go to the meeting.

goldilocks hope you get on ok at the drs and start feeling better soon
