  • Coffee pot politics! Madness.

I am also out of compost. I am also out of money so may have to wait for my next bag!
    Trying to shift that debt!

Yesterday I had an almost perfect moment. I sat out in the garden with just the bees buzzing, birds singing, cat scrounging and ate a simple salad with freshly made warm bread and a glass of chilled wine. Life doesn't get much better than that!

A short cut to happiness :)

Tomatoes are all planted out in hessian shopping bags, looks great as well as putting the bags to a good use! I ran out of compost so still have two chilli plants to pot up.

What kind of hessian bags? How do you fix the canes?
(Yup, have a dozen plantlets needing a new home sharpish :p).

Also ran out of potting soil last week so decided to pick up another bag on the way home..
    10 litre bag - 5€. 80 litre bag - 11€.
No-brainer isn't it? Except for the size of the bag. :(
..Borrowed "The [supermarket] Lad" to put it in the van, and summoned DS to carry it out again - that's me sorted for a while, very :money:! :D

I spent a little bit more than I should have at the supermarket, when did avocados get so expensive?

They're out of season. Should get cheaper in August when the summer varieties fruit. ;)

I bought the avocados at the outrageous price :o I really wanted one in my salad. I don't regret it, 'twas delicious!

Clever to borrow the supermarket lad, hope you put him back when you'd finished with him.....I did the same at H0mebase not so long ago, then filled in the survey and gave him top marks for helpfulness. I hope he got a small bonus for it.

Here are a couple of the hessian bags in the herb garden. I need to get a few more of the curved bamboo stakes as last years have broken/rotted. I prefer the curved ones as I am less likely to do myself injury when picking herbs or going to the compost bin :rotfl:

Luckily for you there's still time to rush off down to the garden centre and pick up replacements should Mara-the-plant-destroyer massacre the poor pagan tomato plants :rotfl:

Today's post to say I have nothing to post or say :rotfl:

Yesterday's shift was uneventful, pleasant even! I was working with a couple of really friendly happy colleagues. What a difference that makes to a day.

Today is gardening and I'm supposed to be meeting a friend for coffee later, but I don't really want to go :o not sure why. If I'm going to call off I ought to text her to let her know, but I'm prevaricating. It's not a close friend, just someone I like well enough, I rarely see people so maybe I'm becoming a hermit or a mad cat lady

Ok I need to ask this question. Am I have yet another one of my dim moments here ?
I thought a beetle drive was where everyone gathered in their Beetles ( ie the car) and went for a drive. Bit like a rally. I had visions of you and your mum driving to Burnham on Crouch in convoy with lots of beetles. Sunglasses on, top down and a headscarf blowing in the wind ? I am guessing by your description I got that wrong. I thought you had a very cool and trendy mum there ! But, whatever on earth you were doing ,I am glad you both had lovely day together :D

The herb garden looks lovely by the way, and I am so glad you had your near perfect moment. Goodness know you deserve it. xx

If only :rotfl:My mum does wear a headscarf, she is more the Queen than Thelma or Louise I'm afraid.

A beetle drive is like bingo but with dice. You build a beetle by rolling the right numbers. You have to get a six to start with a body and so on. It's a cut-throat business when the star prize is half a dozen eggs I'm telling you! I'm not quite in the right age bracket to enjoy it yet. My mum loved it, so I'll take her back for next months drive. No chance of me winning the eggs though!
