Hello Piq!
I've read you're diary from start to finish over the last 3 days and feel as if I know you. I love you stories about the Captain and Colin and have been rooting for you the entire way.
I'm loving the gardening ideas and really hope they take off for you!carpe diem

Oh Robin, what a wonderful image you have created of you in your fruit cage prison:rotfl:
Isn't it lovely how something you read on here can evoke such powerful memories? I remember my beloved Granny (the reason I insist on the title as opposed to Nana or Grandma) grew raspberries in her garden and made her own jam. She used to buy loaves from the local bakery which was wrapped in tissue paper and she would slice it so thinly it was almost translucent. She would spread on real yellow butter from a crystal butter dish (well cut glass then, we weren't posh) and we were allowed to spoon the jam on - bliss - absolute bliss. She seemed so old to me as a young child, and yet she will have been not much older than I am now:eek:0 -
. When I was very young indeed and living with Grandparents, I suspect Grandpa used his as an impromptu play-pen for me while he was doing things in the garden which included sharp implements. I remember hours of fun hiding amongst the raspberry canes, grazing on the fruit..
That happened to me too! And I remember my sister being asked if she had been eating raspberries, saying NO and being taken to a mirror by mum to show her the red mess of fruit stains over her face, in her hair, down her dress ..... Evidence very much to support raspberry munching!Start info Dec11

Piq's not hiding, promise. I've been rather violently unwell _pale_:eek:
Still feeling fairly wretched, so I'm not writing up my diary today. I will respond to all your marvelous suggestions, just not today.
I shall stick it out until 9:00pm and after Colin's bedtime bickies have an early night. There's no point trying to avoid my responsibilities on the biscuit front. He'll headbutt me until I give in and I'll swear he knows what time it is too.
Love to you all
