What amazingly naughty cats we have up for adoption, maybe we should keep them :)

Colin doesn't sit on my lap, I wish he would. The Bear always sat on me for cuddles and slept curled up on my tummy all night. Colin will snuggle up next to me when I've been away and makes a huge fuss over me on my return, but won't sit on my lap. He insists on sleeping on the Bear's old sheepskin square on my bed.

His latest trick is to hide under the bedspread on the spare bed, he doesn't seem to realise his bottom and tail are sticking out! The idea is that I look for him, he then shoots out round the back of the bed and hurtles down the stairs. He actually wants to be chased. He loves it as a game. Quite sweet really. I've not had a young cat for a very long time.

piq~Errr thought you were going to take it slightly easy?!?!

Oh yes, so I was :o:o I didn't do much gardening, a lot of what needs doing requires loppers and I couldn't be bothered to go and get them. Pulled some weeds, need to clear some more leaves, but I know the hedgehogs are in the piles at the back and I don't want to disturb them.

I've got a couple of agapanthus to plant out and some lily of the valley to go in the woody bit of the garden where it's shady. They were given to me by a friend who doesn't like gardening. I think the ground's still a bit cold so will hang on to them for a week or so. I must remember to check my dahlia tubers too, they're sitting in the garage in an empty pot.
    Piq's fat drop:
Lost count of the days already, feels like years, but less than a week :( I've stuck to being good, until this evening when a very large glass of wine seduced me :o his brother, second glass of wine, is just as seductive and is sitting next to me at the moment....

Cauliflower cheese this evening, minestrone soup at lunchtime and banana porridge for breakfast. I bought home ten bananas yesterday and have to use them up in anything that's not cake...

I'm going to check my weight monthly rather than weekly. Less fluctuation I think.

Banana porridge sounds good :) we've got two young cats, and they are funny, chasing each other and pouncing on things :) I've just managed to get a photo of them - it's on my blog - and they'll finally let me stroke them when they're being bribed with food - can't wait til they sit on my knee!

  • Love the cat stories. Am I imagining it or is Colin (can't do small letters!) in even tinier letters if he has been naughty? My cat - well built, not fat!!!! was given to me as his owner was elderly and she couldn't keep him. Everyone says he is fat - he's not if he stretches out - he looks quite svelte! He is supposed to be cutting down on food but sneaks elsewhere to get top-ups. He can be very agile (for brief moments). He knows when he thinks I should feed him and if I don't he walks in front of me trying to trip me up - a bit like the agility dogs where they weave in and out of the owner's legs. If I'm in the garden and have not paid him the attention he thinks he deserves then he sometimes fleetingly grabs my legs - but it doesn't last long as it takes up too much out of his energy levels! He is the same as the other cats re the food pouches he fancies - I sneaked in some Whiskas this week as it was on special offer - whereas he went off that a few months ago. I wonder how long it will be before he realises!

I took the child seat out of the car, bought it indoors, and next morning found he had decided that was a good place to make his bed.

Piq - like everyone else I hope you can get some help from Dr. I do love reading about Colin and Captain. I hope things get better for you soon - you can see how everyone is rooting for you and wishing you well.

fat cat is really not fat... he is big boned:rotfl:
Good idea on not weighing yourself so often... I fluctuate by about 2 to 3 pounds due to water retention can make a big difference.

I love the cat stories, I would love a cat but OH is a dog person. We don't have the lifestyle for a dog so have fish instead, no amusing stories created by them. All they do is eat and sleep and swim :D

I too am like Fat Cat, I'm not fat, I'm just under tall :D

I think the once a month weighing is a good idea too, best not to get too hung up on the scales and judge it by what fits instead.

Hope you manage to see the Dr on Tuesday Piq and until then, things aren't too difficult.

Mr Wine and his brother sound very pleasing to be around, I haven't seen them since NYE but plan to make up for it when we go away the week after next.

We had the extended family round on Friday night, the Spanish branch of the family, plus the French . They were great company :D.

Sorry that you are feeling so cruck. Ref your aches and pains, yes get the thyroid checked, but have you also thought that you might have plantar faschitis (sp). If the pain in your feet is worst in the morning, and then eases off it might be this. This is what I have. It only started to improve when I got the RIGHT pair of trainers. I went to be hardly able to walk some days to walking without pain within days. There are also exercises you can do, like rolling your foot over a cold bottle several times a day that might help.

Lovely to hear that some of us entertained the extended wine family. Just for the record I am also under-tall for my weight.

Today I've shaved a bit more off the expenditure, I've cancelled the window cleaner, saving £18 a month, but have lots of windows which now will be dirty :( As a shorter term saving I've cancelled my standing order of £50 that was paying off my overdraft, which will now creep up as it's around £25 in interest a month :( Money is haunting me 24/7 at the moment.

Deeply fed up as I've been turned down for three more job applications. Still not heard back from the telephone interview, but I'm not expecting a positive outcome.

Couldn't get a doctor's appointment as I'm not an emergency. I will try again for Thursday as I'm working tomorrow.

On the plus side of life. The Captain and I enjoyed the sunshine and went for a walk across a very water-logged meadow, we both were loving the feel of the sun warming our old bones :)

I planted out my lily of the valley bulbs which are already sprouting, they are under the trees at the back. I painted a stone with the plant names so hopefully I won't weed them out any time soon. Also planted out my two agapanthus corms, again marked with a stone. I love the deep blue stateliness of them. Managed a bit of weeding and cutting back.

Last night I made mushroom oven-baked risotto, never done it this way before, always cooked it on the hob. Wow! is all I can say. It was amazing. Really easy. I will now be experimenting with oven-baked risotto!
