  • Oh Piq :( I'm sending you the biggest of hugs.
Have you done an up to date SOA? That may highlight some areas, re your overdraft can you afford to knock the dd to £30 per month rather than nothing then at least its nibbling a little off each month & not worrying you about it creeping further up, if I can be so bold how much of a shortfall are you looking at & I'm sure we can all get our thinking caps on for other bits you can do (ignore if you're not happy to answer)

Good about getting out in the spring sun with captain :)

  • Sorry to hear you're feeling low Piq. Fingers crossed for a doctor's appointment on Thursday.

The garden plans sound fabulous. We've got a new area for planting now the neighbours have replaced the boundary fence. Any suggestions? I like herbs and wild/native flowers best but only the ones that are evergreen or come up every year (lazy gardening).

I'm a big fan of oven baked risotto too. BBC G00d F00d has a few good recipes. I've tried the Bacon & Pea/Leek ones and the Smoked Haddock which are all good. D£lia does an absolutely delicious baked Carbonara Risotto too (I could eat that one every day).

    Hope your luck changes soon.

Piq I have been wanting to do a risotto but, as my body is broken, standing at the cooker stirring and waiting for liquid to be absorbed is too troublesome. Please post recipe for your mushroom one, am keen to give it a go. Thanks Piq.

Isn't money a pain in the derrier? As for the window cleaner....red face coming on now as I admit that I have not cleaned my outside windows since I moved into the house.... and it doesn't show! I can still see through them and the rain keeps them clean. Oh, we have lived here seven years......:o   :o

  • Piq, I think you could easily earn a bit of extra money every month with a little mystery shopping, it really is the most available and flexible source of income I have managed to find (& lord knows I have looked!!). Let me know if I can help with some hints and tips .... xx the cake
PS Jeeves the not so new kitten is EXTREMELY naughty too, and I love him to bits!
  • Piq - I love the idea of painting the plant names on stones or slate in the garden round the plants. How about .... if you have a car .... making a hobby into something more. How about taking cuttings, or planting/dividing bulbs into pots and then painting the slate or stones - then when you have enough cuttings and pots take them to a car boot sale or village hall sale - or even outside your front door, down the stables, into Pret - OK maybe I'm getting carried away! It would, I think, be something different and plants always sell well. I know its not something that will solve your money problems but gardening is a lovely hobby - and maybe the idea would grow :) in the future!

Lots of folk rooting for you and planting ideas for you to think about.

    Take care

I'm sorry I've not been around for a couple of days, I've just been so fed up. I can't see a way out of this mess. The longer I'm out of work the less likely it feels that I will get a job. I have no money, not even enough for a bar of chocolate [which is probably a good thing!]

I will post the recipe for baked risotto tomorrow, along with lazy gardeners plantings tomorrow. If that's okay. I have the long shift today, followed by an after hours staff meeting:( DS3 is going to pick me up and treat me to dinner afterwards, the buses finish at seven so I'd have to take a taxi otherwise. In actual fact I'd have to walk as I have no money.

In answer to your question trix-a-belle, I can't knock the amount of overdraft payment down to £30. In reality I am £300 short every month, I have been funding this from my redundancy payment, but it's all gone now. Hence why I'm making myself ill with worry about bills, Mrs PG I've been so very with you in the worry stakes recently, I worry about you as I worry about me!

Walkers, hello by the way, I am doing some of those things. I am growing herb seeds to plant in large tins that I will paint up with names. I have plenty of broken pots in the garden and plant names look nice painted on a pot rim. I'll post photos when they're done. They don't look cheap at all.

Still haven't got in at the doctors, but the pain seems to have abated somewhat. I'm wondering if losing weight is helping. I'm still stiff but the pain is not continual, which is a good thing! I must mention how much my toe hurts though..... The Captain stood on it:mad: He was attempting to stretch out to get the hay that was passing on the tractor and stepped on me - very ouch
