Today I am stiff and walking a little oddly...
Yesterday was the Boxing Day hunt. I don't hunt, I never have, however, one member of my family would love to hunt.... and yesterday, at the grand old age of 27 he took his opportunity.
As the hunt went past the yard the Captain, who had heard them long before we could see them, burst from his stable, jumped the fence and joined in  There they all were in their hunting finery, horses plaited and gleaming and a long haired piebald git prancing around like a Spanish riding horse.
He followed them for about a quarter of mile down the field with several of us in hot pursuit. The hunt came to a halt to let me get hold of him. [Strictly speaking, they should not have come into the fields without warning us]
Unfortunately, the Captain was having none of me trying to lead him away on a lead rope in front of all his magnificent new friends. He very over-excited! The only thing to do was to get on and ride him back to the yard bare-backed  Not an easy thing to do with a very excited bouncy horse...Trying to turn him away from the hunt was a test of horsemanship  There was one point where he was cantering on the spot in excitement, all I could think was 'don't go up, because I'm off if you do' I had copious amounts of mane in one hand
I have lived to tell the tale, but my leg muscles ache something chronic :rotfl: I haven't ridden bare-backed with only a head collar in quite a while. Probably since I was a teenager, in fact!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Eek! Naughty Captain.
I thought of you on Christmas Day when my parents announced to us that they're going to Australia for three months in Feb! My Uncle is moving to another part of the country so they're going to keep an eye on my Aunt as she'll have a house and 2 dogs to look after plus two grown up children who are more trouble than not. I think it's sweet what they're doing but I'll miss them lots, it was announced in a "we'll need you both to come check on the house by the way" manner.HSBC CC - £3000 / £3000
