So poor I can't even pay attention

I did think about suggesting you stirred a tin of catfood into the water and let Colin loose. He'd have lapped it up in no time
.
:rotfl:Now why didn't I think of that? The poor lad is big enough without adding water retention to his waistline :rotfl:Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Poor Colin!! The Striped Person is mainly living in the airing cupboard at the moment, so our clean washing is also getting 'franked'.
Glad to hear the water has receded ..... have you thought of getting a dehumidifier? I read about them on the forum (where else?!) and managed to buy one on Ebay for £30. It's brilliant - we only heat one room with a woodburner, and I move the dehumidifier around the others - it sucks lots of water out of the atmosphere, makes the unheated rooms feel much nicer and warmer, and also helps the washing dry. It costs much less to run than any heating appliance, so I'm delighted with it. Damp + cold is horrible, dry + cold is much easier to live with.
I don't know why, but I find it funny the idea of The Striped One living in the airing cupboard franking the laundry.
Hadn't thought along the lines of dehumidifiers, might have to wait a while, certainly until after Christmas. No money to spare at all!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Intrigued by the title I have just read through 135 pages of this thread, my eyes are sore and I have put on the reading glasses that I was prescribed 5 years ago and never worn!
I've laughed and cried in equal measure and was willing you to have got the job that you so deserve by page 135Here's hoping the next few pages will bring the good news that so many on this thread are waiting for. What a fantastic achievement clearing so much debt
Edit: It was 135 pages as I was reading it whilst logged out, now that I've logged in to post it says 68 pages. I feel cheated!0 -

The poor cat is horrified at what has happened to his small kingdom, disappeared under the most hated water :rotfl:He keeps going from window to window as it to check that there is the same weather everywhere!
A damp wall is not funny, it can make the whole house feel damp and cold and isn't good for you if you're prone to chest infections.
Will the Landlord sort it out for you?
The landlord popped round last night to tell me that he will put a stud wall over the existing wall to hopefully prevent it from happening (or from us seeing it happening :rotfl:). He did say that as we're at the bottom of the hill on a corner we have drainage underneath us and the house has about 4-5ft underneath it where it's meant to drain away but due to the amount of rain it's not disappeared.
Thank god it's a rental as although I'm finally in my dream home (a bungalow) and we both love the location of the house it's definitely throwing up a couple of things that you don't see when you view it. Damn slugs :rotfl:. We're going to save what we can for a couple of years and hopefully have a deposit saved to buy a place a bit further up the street in a bigger place as a 2 bed bungalow doesn't provide as much storage especially when contemplating starting to expand the family lol. Will definitely need to find a 3 bed at least with a utility room. Basically I want an australian house in an english town - tough to please? me? never:rotfl:

To be honest, I despair of getting a real job, if only one would just land for me. I hate the whole cv/letter editing thing with a passion now.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

The water has drained away now, although you can hear the water in the ground. It will take a long time to subside.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

My moat has gone. Colin can travel his miniscule kingdom without getting his paws wet. I think he spent most of the day in his little house as he refused to come in before I went to work.
I was hoping to last until Saturday until I bought some more petrol, thus keeping November's fuel costs down. Alas it is not to beI will have to put in a tenners worth to make the orange light go away. The orange light is not to drowned out with loud music
I made a carrot cake as a thank you present for DS3 as he bought over a huge pack of washing powder, giant bag of bread flour, two dozen loo rolls and kitchen towels. Something to do with a friend and overstocking [didn't ask, just grateful] And he came accompanied by fish and chips!
