The weather has put paid to drying the washing outside, taking the Captain for a hack and clearing the garden. Bit of a washout really. Filled the car with petrol and did a food shop, so money spent :( I did make a veggie chilli with a difference. The difference being I thought I had red kidney beans, turned out I didn't :o So I improvised and used butter beans instead....unusual....edible, thank goodness but I don't think Nigella will be claiming the recipe somehow :D

Morning Piq, I have done the butter bean substitute as well, as you say OK but not earth shattering.
Weather here making up for the lack of rain earlier in the year with a vengeance, Doglet doesn't "do" rain so has to be booted out the backdoor and I usually end up holding an umbrella over him (daft I know)

Definitely a make-do meal! It was tastier tonight, the flavours had developed, sadly not the butter beans though.

Bless doglet not doing rain, he's probably trying to save you from the 'wet dog' smell - very considerate of him!

Einstein, a previous cat, so didn't do wet ground he had to be carried out to a bush to do his business, then carried back. Luckily, this was in the days of the children being at home and they were normally happy to do this service for him.

As you know I've been clearing/tidying/hacking down the back garden. I have a rambling rose that grows over an arch at the back gate and up and up the wall to the roof  I've been looking at it and wondering how best to cut it back, bearing in mind it's massive. This morning I didn't have to wonder any more. There across the patio, path and anywhere else it could fall was the rose. The heavy rain and possibly some of my pruning had caused it to fall down. Meaning that I was out in the garden at 8 o'clock cutting it back and retying it up, all in horrible wind and rain!:eek:

As I got back in Colin gave a couple of squawks and threw up on the office carpet  Comforted him and cleaned all that up and finally got a shower and made it to work with minutes to spare.

I had a customer shout at me, very rudely as there was water on the floor, what do you expect when it's raining and people put their umbrellas on the floor? Told me I should be on my hands and knees mopping it up. Well, I'm not on my hands and knees for a miserable old g*t like him....in his dreams.....

When I arrived home, poor Colin was still feeling a bit under the weather and wanted to be cuddled :) He seems to have recovered now, one of the spiders he insists on eating must have disagreed with him.

It was a NSD and should be one tomorrow too, although I must sort out the car tax in the next day or so.

Sorry to hear Colin Cat is poorly and hope he gets back to normal soon.
I am playing the great white Doglet coat hunting game tonight after surviving a day at work.

I was very tired yesterday so went for the early night option. It is disconcerting, to say the least, to have someone underneath the bed wrestling with the buttons on the mattress. There is no hope of sleep when that someone manages to pull the button off and proceeds to chuck it around the bedroom. Then go back to see if he can get anymore....

The Captain also had the wind in his tail and wanted to jump everything, from a small dog to a puddle. I must have burnt off a few calories trying to keep him in order! He is in disgrace again. This time for refusing to eat his dinner and then breaking into the feed room and eating the same mix that he left, direct from the bin. He's now on pony nuts....

I still have to sort out my car tax, that will be a job for after work today. Meaning it won't be a NSD, but a day ensuring I don't break the law!

A lovely friend has sent me an early birthday present. A string of fairy lights to keep the Bear out of the dark. I put them up yesterday around the arch of roses and they looked magical last night, his milk churn shone in the light. She loved him too and knew he was a cat who didn't like the dark.

I'm not sure what to make for dinner, it will be a store cupboard special as I'd like to avoid the supermarket for a day or so. I'll be able to get a salad and fruit from work which really helps with the grocery spends.

The weather is grim, I'll have to dig out a coat to stay dry and possibly a hat, unless I decide to go for the mad frizzy haired lady look.
