  • The Bears milk churn sounds absolutely beautiful Piq. I think the solar fairy lights will be a wonderful idea and I am sure they will be much appreciated by The Bear. They often sell the fairy lights cheap as chips in dear old A£da.

Im a few days behind with your news, so am just wondering how Colin is, dare you say his name out loud yet or are you still whispering ?!

The Cake, I'm so sorry to hear Catto is poorly. xx

Just catching up across the threads as have been very busy these last 3 weeks.........boring work stuff. OOOOOOH a new puss cat - he is gorgeous and I had to do a double take as he is very like our Big Cat - but the reclining picture reveals ours has more white on the tum. Our cat is ex RSPC4 and we where told he would be difficult to socialise with other cats as he was vicious - hmmmmmmmmm we just fell in love with his jade eyes and his enormous white paws and he can often be caught washing the heads of the tabbies of our 'up the hill neighbours' and just loved it when we got another cat - they sleep wrapped up together. He only shows sign of nastiness when spotted sitting on the wall of our 'down the hill neighbours' and teasing their kennelled dogs ;)

The description of Bears milk churn sounds lovely. All our pets large and small are buried in a mound under a large birch at the bottom of the garden. I usually plant a few bulbs there just as a little memoriam. We had one cat called Bramble and where she was buried sprouted up a thornless blackberry.............. tempted to call our next cat gold nuggets :)

I'm nearly in the £10k region of debt! Just £60 and 29p short. Who'd have thought it? It's a long way from the £57k I owed when I started. My credit card debt is now £11,060.28. After that it's just the overdraft to go.

A NSD day today, I managed to put off going food shopping and created a beetroot and feta salad out of the dregs in the fridge. Actually it wasn't too bad, bit pink. It's going to be too chilly for salads soon. I'm refusing to put the heating on yet, so I'm wearing a very chunky cardi and thick socks with my jeans, makes me look enormous! :rotfl:

Carried on with the garden, yet another huge amount of chopping back. I compost the soft greenery and take the woody stuff down to the recycling depot. I'm hoping to claim back some flower beds soon. My mum has promised me lots of cuttings/divided plants from her garden. In readiness I bought home a large sack of the Captain's offerings....I had to drive with the windows open, my car stank like !!!! :rotfl: Once it has rotted down it will help the garden no end.

my cat Ted used to eat ferns in plant pots, his mother taught him how to do it when he was a kitten.
I'm so glad that Colin has settled in so well with you.

Ferns? that's unusual, not that basil isn't... I wondered if it was a grass substitute thing. A lot of cats eat grass, maybe, it's his Italian side coming out!

RIP much loved cats, Katy and the Bear. xxxxx
Thanks all so much for kind words and thoughts ... catto was very bright this morning, so I have postponed the appointment for the time being. He is certainly keeping me on my toes! I had a long chat to a very sweet vet, told him how catto is at the moment, and he said it was fine to keep him going, and that I would know when the right time came. My OH (very supportive and sympathetic) also thought I was being a bit premature, tho' he didn't say so until I had reached today's decision. I hate having the power of life and death over another living being, it feels like such a heavy responsibility.
Anyway, catto is still purry (tho' not very furry) and lives to light another day. Love to you all, xxx the cake.

Enjoy every day you have with him, I know you do! You will know when it's time. I didn't think I would, but I did. There is no doubt when you know them well. I'm glad catto is around for a while longer for you Cake.

Still whispering, I'm afraid. He had to go for his second vacination today. The receptionists were howling with laughter at his name and my impression of a mumbled version of Colin [trying to disguise it, ready for calling him in from a night on the town...]

....or call the next cat 'large lottery win'? Colin isn't very brave at all, I don't think he'll be ruling the neighbourhood. He runs away at loud noises and hides. I found him on the top of the bookcase because the vacuum cleaner frightened him:eek: I think he must have survived living rough by doing just that, running away. Hopefully, he'll feel safer in time or maybe I'll just give up vacuuming....

Me too! I hadn't realised just how much I'd cleared. It's become such a habit, spending less and questioning whether I need it or not. However, I do still spend on things people may find strange. I paid £150 for the Bear's cremation, it was important to me and I didn't even question it. Yet, I can bring myself to buy any new cardies for the winter, the tatty ones will do!

The salad was nicer than I expected, it could have easily been gross :rotfl:Trying to lose weight is so boring :D
