Eagerly awaiting the next Captain story :cool:
Hello Tig
I'll try to do it for you tomorrow, I'm being taken out to dinner by the man pet soon. Hopefully, he spoils me as much as he did the Bear who is still looking for smoked salmon....

When I was made redundant last September I decided that I was fed up with the rat race that is high powered jobs and ridiculous commutes and I wanted to get my longed for puppy which has forced me to look for jobs in a very restricted area (but you can't tell the job centre that is what you are doing - you have to say you are prepared to travel up to an hour by public transport).
Luckily for me I was debt free, apart from the mortgage and a car loan, so I worked out what is the absolute least I can live on and looked for jobs in that bracket with a view to starting work in the new year.
Even more amazingly I found a job 5 minutes from home in the right field and started the week before Christmas so nearly all the boxes ticked.
Are there any specialist agencies in your field, are any of your skills transferable, is there something you really want to do? All things to think about.

Here ready with a shovel for Friday. Maybe the muck heap at the stables would be a good spot!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Thank you Maty, it's good to know someone who's gone through the process. I can see that wanting a puppy is not always seen as employment criteria, although I want one too...I was hoping for one like Tintins's Snowy.
I'll bear all your good advice in mind for Friday and I'll make sure that all bodies are cleanly wrapped in black bin liners, I will buy the heavier quality ones, I think on this occasion we shouldn't be too mse! The muck heap is an ideal place, the job centre people will be pleased that they will be compost, not entirely a wasted career for them.
I'm really pleased that you found your ideal job so near home. What sort of puppy did you get?
Working out my minimum wage is a good idea, I'll get on to that tomorrow morning, luckily I've cleared down a lot of my debt, with a little more enthusiasm and a job I could clear the last bit very quickly.
Thanks again.

I have applied online for JSA. The form said it would take an hour to complete, I did it in 15 minutes, I hope I haven't done it incorrectly. I chose the online option as it saves one trip to the job centre. I now have to wait for someone to call me to set up an appointment.
I feel quite despondent. I know it is the right thing to do and all that, but I feel a level of failure. No matter how many jobs I apply for, I rarely get a response.
Still, onwards and upwards...A cup of coffee and I'm going to start writing my first assignment, all notes are ready. All I have to do is put the first word on the virtual piece of blank paper.

How can you be a failure sweeite, you're trying your hardest, you're filling in all the forms, you're making yourself available and you're trying.
And, you're engaging your mind, being creative and realistic.
How on earth is that failure, its just putting the peices together for your steps forward.

Bravo I say. Wik's brother is a fire man - find myself sucking myself in everytime I see him, without the lycra though.......

Just found your diary.
I had to sign on for the first time ever a couple of years ago and they do treat you like you are - how can I put it politely - thick, but I ignored it and just thought thats how they are trained to be. I must say that all the staff answered your questions but they didnt really tell you anything if you know what I mean, so best of luck:)

Piq well done on starting the signing on process. I am glad you have started. It may only be a bit of money but it is better than nowt.
Maty your little dog is lovely.
I have loved your tails (lol) of cats. I especially like the photo one that is sooo funny. I want a cat again. But we live right by a main road, and it wouldn't be fair on it. My boys want pets too but it is just taking a fair bit of time to get organised. My OH just doesn't 'get' how important having pets for our 2 boys is.... sigh.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
