Odd, I am having just the same problems and anxieties with one of my cats. They too were rescues, I think they are about 15; the tabby one is big, bold, furry and purry. The black one, his brother, so obviously the same age, is very bald: I've taken him to the vets 3 times now, as the fur loss has got worse and worse, had endless blood tests etc. and the diagnosis seems to be that he is stressed, and over-grooming. There has been another cat hanging around (younger, definitely furrier) and apparently this may have started it. He does lick himself a lot, and licks me, my clothes, his brother, anything really. His balance is not as good as it was, he seems a bit wobbly on his legs sometimes, and follows me everywhere like a little shadow. He does still go off hunting sometimes, but not for long. Sounds as if he and the Bear have a few things in common. There is something terribly poignant about aged animals, isn't there? I am hoping he will not forget where his litter tray is, I can cope fine with everything else, and it's nice that he is always keen to snuggle on the sofa with me ....
Anyway, best wishes to you, the Bear and of course the Captain. cake xx0 -
Morning, I have a needy doglet too, who I think is building up to another attack of pancreatitis (ah help the last vet bill for that was 4 figures and his insurance is due for renewal on 23rd so I doubt it will be covered this time!). Friend's cat is the same - diagnosis stressed but doesn't help when he pees on ANYTHING left on the floor, even washing baskets (where he has to climb into it!).
I feel a bit needy too so thinking it is a combination of the weather, carpy job and DH cuddling pillows not me!Start info Dec11

Hi P and Friends
Poor Bear - maybe all the weather changing has just upset his karma a bit. Its driving me mad not sure whether to rug or not (the horses).
We too had pony club camp at our yard this weekend - was great fun - I took little mare and she was ace
Did you fill in employment advisor form? Sounds tedious but might end up being the job you get? Is your back ok now?
I am really motivating myself to get back on the MSE wagon this week as I feel that I am just coasting along now and want to crack on with clearing my loan.
have a good week everyone
(and whoo hoo for gold in the showjumping :j = keep everything crossed for the final team dressage today)0 -
Maybe it is just the weather affecting the Bear, it's grey and dismal here. Currently, he's sitting on his favourite chair in the herb garden, which is normal behaviour. Earlier this morning he threw up over the cream bedspread in the spare-room - nice! Washing now on, hoping for a dry period to get it dried - I suspect that'll be a no-hoper :rotfl:He's eaten since then, so was probably fur, he's shedding a lot at the moment.
Missrir: I hope doglet is okay and decides to bypass the pancreatitis, hopefully LAM is right and it's the weather making them miserable. to the vet costs, I expect your premium will go up this year too, but it is worth it for huge vet bills.
Poor cake's cat, the over-licking does sound like stress perhaps caused by the younger cat hanging around. Can you chase it off? The Bear licks me, not excessively, apparently it's him grooming me, a bit half-heartedly mind :rotfl:I suppose in his opinion, I'm lacking a bit on the fur front!
Hiya Lam, lovely to see you back. I know what you mean about rugging up, when the sun comes out, it's too hot, but when it rain  If only I could train the Captain to put up his own umbrella, instead of looking at them like they were cruise missiles...
I will do the never-ending form in while, my head's a little fuzzy at the moment, so I thought I'd pop out in the garden and clear a few weeds and dead-head the rain ruined flowers

The wine's optional, but it takes the banana cake into the sublime rather than the ordinary! I think sherry would work as well, but not as a nightcapTotal debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
