Well, that just plain wrong, you could have been on the GB gymnastics team this week!

Seriously, I'm sorry you didn't get the job, they're the ones missing out by not having you. I haven't heard back from any I applied for last week :(

I should have been more sympathetic to PG, how has she put up with back pain for so long and remained so lovely?

One day in and I'm hobbling round like a very old hunch-backed lady. My lower back is in knots, tried the hot bath, painkillers every four hours and the pain killer gel rubbed in, no difference. Alcohol next...

I've had to throw stuff away from fridge, despite my vow to use everything up, a lettuce didn't make it nor did the cucumber. That's what comes of staying in bed for a couple of days! Both are in the compost. I've made green soup to use up the celery and leeks, I added soaked green split peas and I'm reminded of the Blackadder sketch where Percy invents green 'I have invented green, My Lord' a very green soup indeed!

Couldn't ride, wasn't sure if I got on, I'd ever get off! Had to ask someone to clean his hooves for me :o In fact, he only got groomed bodywise, I couldn't bend to do his legs, luckily, he didn't seem to notice!

Hoping my back eases by tomorrow...

    Hi Piq
So sorry to hear about your summer flu, and back pain - what a depressing combination! I've had a bad back for years - used to be awful, now just a bit niggly from time to time, but I am very careful about what and how I lift things. I found two things helped: firstly, keeping it moving, however gently - if I stopped and lay on the sofa it seized up and was much worse. The other thing was an exercise: stand up straight (if you can ....) with your feet slightly apart, then very slowly drop your chin onto your chest and sort of 'roll' the rest of your spine as you lower your head and upper body. Go as far as is comfortable, then gently 'roll' it all so you are standing straight again, think of it as one vertebra (sp?) at a time. Hope that's clear, not very good at describing things! Do hope you feel better very soon. xx
