if you slice it open, with the skin on still, and stuff chocolate/masmallows in, then wrap it in tin foil and put either under the grill or in the oven for 10 minutes, then you get lovely warm chocolately bananas
Or, slice open and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Grill/bake again - the sugar goes lovely and crispy...
Hmm... any bananas going spare?
Oh the banana with cinnamon and brown sugar sounds lush, I will try that! I wonder if I'll get any more bananas this week...i mean how many bananas are left! I saw a recipe for banana ice cream using nothing but semi frozen bananas and a blender.
All bananas are accounted for. Most are now frozen ready for using another time.Pippilongstocking wrote: »Hope you're well and fine me dear - hack sounded nice! x Ace banana ideas on here

The weather is horrible. I'm fed up with it. It's July for goodness sake. I'm about to put socks on as my feet are cold. Today I'm finding it really depressing.
About 18 months ago I bought steam mop from L*keland, brilliant thing, floors are spotless, no chemicals needed and they dry really quickly. Unfortunately, it died a horrible death and I've been looking into getting a new one. I have a lot of stone flooring and it's no fun scrubbing on your hands and knees....
Research into the mops said that they were not cheap, around £60  so I'd just about got used to the idea of a sponge mop again. On the way home from work I popped into L*keland and mentioned my dead mop and how much I'd liked it. The lady said bring it in and we'll exchange it for a new one. 18 months old no receipt, how good is that?
So that's exactly what I did this morning. I am now the proud owner of a new steam mop :j Very impressed with L*keland!
Obviously I've washed the floorsI've also reorganised my filing, keeping all my correspondence to do with jsa, mortgage claim and cc benefit in a concertina file where I can easily lay my hands on it.
Talking of jsa, I've been paid it again, despite telling them I have a part time job. I've moved it to a safe place in case I have to give it back.
I schooled the Captain rather than ride him as he's a bit stiff from the damp weather poor lad. The Bear is using his mastery of his bladder and determinedly staying in bed for the day!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

It's my friend's birthday and I can't afford a present. I feel awful about this. I've got a batch of shortbread hearts in the oven for her, but I'd rather have got her something lovely from Clarins....Thank goodness I can cook....
I've found one job to apply for, I'll sort that out after I take the biscuits out the oven and have a cup of coffee. Or maybe I'll do it later.... oops, looks like a can't be *rsed mood fast approaching
I've got to buy the Captain some linseed and garlic oil, must keep him supple and fly-free, so not a NSD unfortunately.
Tomorrow I have to go to London for a Pr*t induction day. As I used to prepare and present these sorts of things I know just how boring they are - deep deep joy...
None of my eb*y items soldbut I've had an enquiry from Sweden about sending it there, at £38 I think it's going to be a no-go
Shortbread now out of the oven and looking pretty, just need to bag it up and write a card.

:rotfl::rotfl:think I'm more of an apple shape and a cooking apple at that! All bananas accounted for, I actually had cereal for breakfast rather than a banana smoothie!
The mop saving was unexpected and very much appreciated, not that I like washing the floor any more, but I'd certainly like it less if I had to get on my hands and knees to scrub it...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Hi Piquant. Just de-lurking to say I love reading your diary. Personally, I would much prefer to get something home baked and yummy for my birthday. You know that someone has really made some time and effort for you. One of my specialities is Sloe Gin - people even asked me to make it for them now!

My thoughts too FS, (love the name by the way). I would so much rather have a home made gift with some thought behind it, than something anyone, including me could buy x

Sloe gin is so much nicer than shortbread....
I'm so pleased you've de-lurked, it's good to meet you! Maybe I should run an induction course for de-lurkers, it would be fantastic fun as it wouldn't have to be so politically correct as company ones have to be....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
