Piq, someone was asking you about your Pr*t boss.Looks like theres many who still think there is something in the air with you & him, or its just good fun to wind you up about it ! Maybe he thinks bananas are an aphrodisiac , hence the payment in bananas and then he could have his wicked way !!! :rotfl:
I had a lovely Chicken and Mango recipe from years ago i used to make all the time that I can try and dig out for you if you happen to find yourself with more Mangos !
Have a good day today ! x
We need to get a few things straight hereFirstly, I'm sure the chicken and mango recipe is delicious, but I'm a vegetarian....
Secondly, I'm not sure how your mental picture of me shapes up, but I'm fairly sure I'm nearer being a femme fatale in your imagination than I am in real life. I'm just a plain ordinary woman. For goodness sake - I had to buy a man on the internet! I couldn't attract one by myself if my life depended on it! So nowhere with the boss, I'm sure I said he was quite a bit younger than me....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Glad to see that you are getting a small amount of mortgage interest paid - the calculation for it is very random and I don't always fully understand it, luckily I have made a brilliant acquaintance who works in that department so if I don't understand something I ring her :rotfl:
It will likely be to do with the fact that not all the mortgage is covered as the mortgage insurance you get will be counted towards the endowment part which JC+ won't cover - luckily they are quite reasonable and if you get insurance they only count it once they have deducted off as much as possible.
When you said Pret had offered you more hours - I wonder how much more?
If it was only a few then I think you have made the right decision but if it would have taken you over 30 hours it might have been worth it as you can claim Working Tax Credit.
Woo hoo to being awarded Council Tax Benefit - at my council they award CTB and you get two letters on the same day, one is the calculation and one is the revised bill.
If you haven't done the bill it is probably because they are behind on letters - think you should chase it up.
If you are on JSA then you won't have to pay any Council Tax for that period so check the dates on the letter.
Now that you are working and you will earn too much to get JSA you will need to take your wage slips down and CTB will be assessed on wages instead which means you will have to pay more Council Tax.
Thank you EE and how are you? I will pop over and see you soon.
I think the accompanying letter has arrived. I will open it tomorrow morning. I didn't get home from Pr*t until about six and I have a thing about not opening letters that may or may not upset me in the evening. If they're bad news it stops me sleeping, much better in the morning when I've got time to format a plan or respond rather than have it play on my mind all night.
I'll take my wage slips to the council offices next week, I guessed that working would impact the cc benefit, hopefully not all of it though. I got 94.50 this week, not much more than the jsa, but much more in terms of self respect.

I usually post on Pippi's thread. Loving lurking on your thread.
I saw your request for banana recipes so I asked my 'jam guru' about making jam from bananas and she suggested banana chutney.
can't say I've ever made or tried it, but in for a penny eh? plus you mentioned you were making mango chutney so I'm guessing you like curry.

That sounds quite interesting, not sure about it, but I've got all the ingredients so I'll give it a whirl. I guess it must be a bit like plantain chutney.
Please stick around, it's good to see you!

Oh - a little romance budding, presents of bananas, apples and mangoes, perhaps he is envisaging a shared fruit salad?????
Come back Piq and tell us more!
'fraid not missrir! Although mangoes are the only fruit that should be eaten while naked in the bath. They are the messiest fruit ever....Love the Einstein/slug story and what a nice vet with a good sense of humour.
I felt such a fool, I was convinced poor Einstein had a horrible growth. Instead of which he'd obviously snoozed on top of a slug!
Yum to left over mangoes - one of my fave fruits. Hope you are having a good day, freezing cold here, got my thick jumper onnot July weather at all.
The weather is unbelievable, there's water just lying on top of the grass and there's still more rain forecast...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I didn't post yesterday, I was so tired my eyes were streaming, my back and hips were aching a lot even after a bath and painkillers. I'd have thought that I'd be used to the physical side of working by now.
I've had a spending day today. I bought a new pair of jeans. I have to wear them to work and I only have one pair and the weather is not making it possible to get them washed and dried overnight [no tumble dryer] The good news is the jeans are the next size down :j Look where you're walking there's another pound dropped and it's probably looking for a home. I also bought one of those sieve type things for the plughole in the shower to collect all the hair I seem to shed when washing it. I seem to be in competition with the Captain and the Bear as to who can shed most...
No more bananas today, thank goodness! I have some sultanas soaking in marsala wine overnight ready for banana cake tomorrow. I thought I'd make one and freeze it in individual slices and make another one to take down the yard to share.
The weather was horrible which meant that loads of people camped out in Pr*t meaning I was run off my feet. We were running out of coffee mugs at one point. I did get breakfast and lunch though, it is saving me a lot on food and I know I'm getting meals that are healthy and without rubbish in them, so quite good really.
I'm not working tomorrow, I thought I'd do the housework, bake the banana bread and then spend the day at the yard, it is Sunday so I'm taking the day off looking for jobs!

Piq
You sound a bit run-down Piq, which is hardly surprising with what you've been through recently. For the last few years I've taken a joint supplement and it really helped with my aches and pains. I stopped it a few months ago because they're stupidly expensive, but I'm aching again now. I think I need to include it as essential spending. Maybe you could try it and see if it helps.
