So poor I can't even pay attention

It certainly didn't go as planned. I'm not really into confrontation, but on the other hand, I can't stay there, it's horrible.
I had a bakeathon this morning, just putting off doing it reallyMade 20 bread rolls, used up some yogurt that was past it's date but okay and made a yogurt cake, two bananas that were too ripe to eat made a banana loaf. Most of it is now in the freezer apart from a couple of rolls for tea, which incidentally, will be beetroot risotto [need to use up the beetroot!]
I digress; Still feeling nervous, I decided that I was going to ride the Captain I'd go and hand in my notice wearing riding gear. There's something about wearing riding boots and breeches that boosts a girls confidence...
Conversation went thus:
Me: I'm handing in my notice with immediate effect, I'm sorry it's not working out for me, please may I have last weeks wages and here's your apron back
Him: You can't go, I'm short staffed already and what about all the training I've put you through?
Me: What training?
Him: You've had some from the girls, haven't you?
Me: No. They're always rushed off their feet, you run an establishment where your staff just hope for the best and run round on a wing and a prayer you have no right to berate them in public for not succeeding against impossible odds
Him: I thought that with a bit of time and more effort on your self you'd make management material
Me: I'm already management material, I've managed whole departments before. What you need to do is review how efficient the coffee shop is with only three staff and forty tables, then take a look at recommended European standards and see if you come anywhere near them. Incidentally, I don't think health & safety is being met either. It might be a nice idea to see if the girls have better ideas about how the place should be run
Him: What will I do tomorrow? Will you be working? I'll have to shut it down for the day
Me: Not unless you make me a decent offer
Him: Like what?
Me: Double time, cash up front
Him: Splutter - Okay
Me: If I'm not paid in advance I will walk out the door. By the way, I'll only do it for this weekend, you will have to make alternative arrangements going forward. I will not cover beyond this weekend
The European bit was blag, I know nothing about it, clearly neither does he.
So there you have it. I'm working for double cash in hand both Saturday and SundayNot quite what I expecting, but useful all the same. Sorry Bast, I should have told you to look away

I hae a sneaking suspiscion he could be The One !! After all, he must have hundreds of people through his door every day moaning about their jobs and admiring his coffee machine ( are you really sure it is all you were admiring Piq ? ) but he chose Piq over all those others ,to sit down with at the table and offer a job to. Even better, he has even met the parents !!! :rotfl:brizzledfw wrote: »Liking the theory PG...yes you're right, he has met the parents too..
Now if The Captain likes him all will be right with the world!! :-)
Ladies...... not going to happen! Very pretty, but at least twenty years younger than me. I've done the younger man thing a couple of times and have no wish to do it again! I'm sticking with the Captain, true love knows no species boundaries....

Great outcome - hugely well done! I especially enjoyed the bit about "recommended European standards" - pure genius. And the riding gear thing - maybe when you "put the boot in" it helps to be wearing boots ... oh dear, this could be spurring me on to a dreadful pun-fest. I will stop now. (No withering glances, please). At least you won't be saddled with him. No, no, stop me now.....0
