Pelican - this was originally PELICON - PEdestrian, LIght CONtrolled
Toucan - two can cross - bikes and pedestrians
    Pegasus - people and horses
Puffin - Pedestrian, User Friendly, INtelligent (motion sensors detect people on the crossing and control the lights)

I don't think the first aid questions are stupid - better to know how to look after someone injured until the ambulance/paramedics arrive.

True but it is a driving theory test not a first aid one.
  • 46 - didn't do the theory test when I passed
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
  • Just tried passed with 36 after 35+ years of driving still have a clean old green license
failed one question because i miss read it thought they were refering to the hard shoulder not the 1st lane
  • Passed my test back in 1959 (yes, I'm an old ****). Did this test two hours after 3 pints - and got 48 out of 50. Most of it was pure common sense. Maybe I was lucky with my questions - but I reckon anyone who can't get 43+ should not be driving. Surprised that they still ask about hand signals. When I passed they were needed as cars didn't always have indicators - but haven't used hand signals for well over 25 years.
  • I took my last test in 1970!
I just passed the theory with 44/50. A couple of silly mistakes but a few I thought I knew, but didn't.

I've never tried learning to drive. I took the car test and passed with a score of 44 out of 50 with 43 minutes remaining.
  • 45 in half the time allowed, I was surprised there were no mechanical questions ....

  • Well I scored 45. I have been driving for over 20 years and have never looked at a theory test so it was interesting. I had no idea about signals at train crossings or the white line on the left side of the road. I had also forgotten what the hand signal is for turning left. As for rules for trailers, less said the better. lol. Not many questions about road signs. Are they still asked verbally on the day of the test?

44 out of 50 for the driving.
    Quite pleased with that really.
