  • Sat the theory test back in the late 1990's, got 35/35 at the time. Then they changed the rules so that a passed theory test was only valid for 2 years...:mad::mad:

To many stupid questions that don't have anything to do with driving for example first aid and environmental.
The hazard perception test is fairly suspect too.
I don't think the first aid questions are stupid - better to know how to look after someone injured until the ambulance/paramedics arrive.

However, it's dangerous to expect people to know this, you're too likely to get sued even if you help someone these days :(

Jonny Vegas had some interesting comments on Top Gear about the hazard perception test when he was in for his lap in the reasonably priced car :)

Passed in '97. Took the driving test online in 11 minutes with all 50 out of 50 correct. Does not prove I am a good driver though.

I got 42/50, so failed. Not surprised at all. I passed in 1982 (first time). Took me about 5 minutes to do. I have no clue about those flappy arm signals.

46 on the motorcycle test (I'm no biker) and 48on the car test. I got one of the trailer speed limits wrong and only got 3 of the 4 things to do in an accident corect (I ticked 'check the other driver has a licence', rather than whether he owns the car - stoopid or what?)

Non-driver, tried the car test even though I haven't looked at the handbook since 1981. 40 out of 50 so pretty surprised at my common sense!

I tried the theory test and score 39/50 which I didn't think was too bad for someone who has never driven a car and has no intention of ever driving let alone study for the test.

I quite liked the importance given to questions related to first aid. Whilst it is an essential skill to have, even if we're not well versed, at least to know what to look for and what not to do that would exacerbate an injury etc is essential knsowledge.

I too agree about the basic first aid questions being very useful ... apart from the bleedin' obvious dealt with in the test, I do pray that if I ever have a heart attack that there is someone around who has seen the Vinnie Jones Hard & Fast commercial and who remembers where the sovereign is :p

Full marks on the theory, but not the HP.

I’ve not had an accident (except the wall outside my house about 3 years ago, when the car slipped on snow) in over 12 years, so I think I’ll be fine at that :rotfl:

Got 44/50 on the motor bike test, and 50/50 on the car test. Took 12 minutes to do each one. Been driving 4 years.

If you can't pass these tests, you shouldn't be on the road!

I think ALL drivers should have to re-sit their test every 10 years!!
