It's ALL going wrong...

  • As others have pointed out, in the first month especially, there is a lot of ups and downs until things settle down. You'll get loads of letters and unless any of them are from the courts, you're ok to file them for the time being.

Don't worry about arrears notices and even if you get a Default notice at a later date, it's not as life-changing as it seems to be when you read the letter as long as you're sticking with your DMP and they're getting the promised payment. If you feel better, you could ring them but it isn't necessary.

Just let your DMP get going and it will all settle down once they realise they're getting their payments as set out by CCCS. You might still get the odd bogey one (for me it was Santander who took over a year to finally acknowledge my plan and cut interest) but don't get disheartened - you're on your way :)

    Hi
Been lurking on your post for a while to see how you are doing! I am also on a DMP with CCCS and the first month was HELL!!!! but trust me, once this month is over you will wonder what all the panicking was about.
I takes them about a month to get it all sorted for you. Your creditors will send you letters regarding registering a default on your account because they have to. They are standard letters that they send out. I almost had enough of these letters to fill my re-cycling bin!!!!
I have had no problems with my DMP since I started it in July 2010. Our quality of life is so much better, yes we have to watch what we spend but hopefully we will be conditioned to do this for the rest of our lives and never get in the huge mess we did again.

    Good luck and keep calm!

    Emily xx

    Thank you

  • You used the card before contacting CCCS. I would therefore be inclined to allow CCCS to contact them first. They may not accept your DMP, and could try for a CCJ against you, but to be honest with the associated court costs this is unlikely. If you want to contact RBS I would simply tell them you are unable to afford the minimum payment. They may then hold off until contacted by CCCS. Remember though banks are there to make a profit, and they may continue to send letters etc to apply pressure upon you, but they can be accused of harassment if it becomes vexatious.

Good luck, hope all goes well!

Thank you too Savvy Money & yamsteroo
    I appreciate your input x

Remember that they can't get the money out if you have none. If you are taken to court and are in the process of setting up a DMP the magistrates will be unhappy with them. You are already doing your bit. A guy in London last year got his debt paid off plus compensation for the bank in question (can't remember which) harassing (as the magistrates decided) him.

I have a DMP with Payplan and they offer car insurance deals, life insurance - try CCCS and see if they do to.

Finally remember the old joke: Man can't sleep and wife asks why not? 'I owe the bank a lot of money and I can't pay him back'. Next day his wife goes to the bank and says, 'That money Joe Bloggs owes you - he can't pay'.

Joe says, 'What did you do that for?' She says' Let them worry about it - now go to sleep'.

Think about it - I doubt any of the bank/credit card or whoever you owe money to are staying awake nights worrying about it.

I'm in Oldham - which could explain my warped sense of humour

    Thanks.

CCCS don't do car insurance deals or life insurance..... just good old fashioned FREE debt advice and counselling, and Debt Management Plans.

Hmmmm.... I just logged into my online banking with the Royal Bank of Scotland out of curiousity, and the RBS Mastercard I have with them has totally disappeared from the list of accounts I have with them....

I also notice the -£199.00 overdraft I left them with, now stands at -£200.48 as they have charged me £1.48 in interest.....

No doubt that will trigger some extra over the top fee/charge now.

    Great, just great.
Rent and garage gone UP. Nearly £30 a month worse off now.

    Gas gone UP.

    E-ON electricity has gone UP.

And I will have to fork out anything up to £60 for a new tyre tomorrow now, and also need to find £75 for my car breakdown cover before 15th May....

This isn't getting easier at all.

It's getting me really down, and making me ill and so miserable :(

Have you still not seriously looked at Bankruptcy? Or even IVA?

You can't keep going on if you cannot afford it, who are you benefitting? CCCS and the creditors who are both happy to get paid sure, but not you.

Put yourself first and consider your options again.

Sorry Gimpsdad, I wasn't ignoring you.

As I have said before, I would consider bankrupty but need to keep the car, so that's a no go.

Not really sure about an IVA, can you keep a car on that?

CCCS suggested bankruptcy first after doing the online debt remedy, then a DMP as second choice..... they never suggested an IVA.
