U]UPDATE: 30th August[/U FOR THOSE HOVERING OVER THIS LINK: - I owe £26,000. I am on a Debt Management Plan with CCCS, and today have received my letter confirming my redundancy on Friday 30th November 2012.

Just found out that despite opening a new basic bank account with The Co-Op, completing the CCCS Debt Remedy pack and returning it to them, and sending out letters to my creditors with a token £1 payment to them, my wages are NOT going to be paid into the new account in time on the 15th

I knew I should have chased the fax I sent to payroll up when I sent it on Monday afternoon. They claim they received NO fax whatsoever, and the lady who I spoke to (who told me to fax my details across) is conveniently now on holiday....

That means I am screwed :(

My wages will get paid into my existing current account and the £198.99 will automatically be taken off leaving me nearly £200 worse off, despite me adding the overdraft to the list of debts for CCCS.

What also is scarying me now is what happens to the direct debits? The Co-Op sent me a text saying they requested a list from my current bank, and another saying they are being set-up..... but as my wage is still going into the current account, what happens? I won't have any money in the new Co-Op account?

One step forward, one leap backwards. I have had enough :(

And, my ex phoned me, and I thought I was being good and honest for once and told about the pay now not going into my new account and she's having a meltdown now, and yelling at me it's all going wrong and I'm not going to have any money "saved".....

Thought you said this would get easier?

:(

And as soon as the RBS credit card people receive my letter and see I'm up ship creek and have run to CCCS for help, won't they have the right to take the rest of my wages for the month towards payment off the RBS credit card?

    :(

    Hi R_G

Sorry to hear about your wages, is there literally nothing they can do? Have you explained to your HR dept that the other account effectively is closed now and it's paramount that your wages go into your new account?

Also, another thought, if your wages do go into your new account could you first thing in the morning (or midnight if they come in at midnight) and take transfer all your money into the new account or somewhere new including dipping back into the overdraft?

As for your ex, she really sounds horrid, what's it to do with her, she's walked away from you and therefore should have no opinion on your financial situation anymore. I would never dream of calling my ex up and telling him that he's rubbish with money... it's not my problem and nothing to do with me now (even though he owes me ;)) Tell her not to call you unless she has something nice to say, she's not worth the stress honeybunch xxx

when we went to Pay-plan, we had to get a basic Yorkshire bank account, only in hubby name as l could not prove who l am, no passport, we had a payment going into RBS, we went very early in the morning drew it all out, and paid some of it to the Yorkshire, and used some money for food etc.. You are tackling your problems of debt its not easy, we are in our 8year ending debt free 2011-12, its degrading to get into problems what ever way people do, good luck

    Thanks.

Can I withdraw like all my wages in one go then hurry across to the Co-Op and pay it in? It'll be like £800

chances are you can't withdraw all your wages in one go as alot of banks have a daily limit (usually £300-£500) but theres no reason you couldn't transfer it across if you have online banking, it could mean sitting up all night refreshing the page.
    DEC GC £463.67/£450
    EF- £110/COLOR]/£1000
  • With our bank there is a limit on cash withdrawals from the machine of £250 a day, I would be firmer with the payroll people,I can't think of a reason why it couldn't be sorted out by next Wednesday.

Yes - you'd need to withdraw £800 in branch, though, not at an ATM, as they usually have limits of £250 / £300ish. You usually need proper ID to do this - passport or something. Or do it online / by phone at midnight - then it's a transfer not a withdrawal (that's what I'd do).

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
  • Do you have online banking? if so (depending on your bank) the wages will show up at midnight so you could do a online transfer.

They said it has already entered the system. They can stop it but it would take 2 weeks to get back, in the meantime D/Ds will start coming out the Co-Op account with no money in :(

    Going home now

    EDIT: 6.24pm
I know now that no direct debits will be coming out the Co-Op account until they send me a letter.

I agree about the payroll, i've worked in wages for years and there is no reason something thats not going to be credited till next Wednesday cant be altered.

I do our payroll on a wednesday for crediting into accounts on a friday, so i doubt yours has even been done yet.
