You will want to keep some for living costs until you find another job (which you will!) but you might want to consider making some F&F offers. Don't forget to check how this might affect any entitlement to benefits you will have.
And try not to be too down on yourself, look at your 10 weeks notice as an opportunity to get looking for another job while still being paid by this one
Thank you :A
I think it will be around £2,500 - £3,000, not exactly brilliant.
Can you claim unemployment benefit when you have been given a pay out? I haven't been on the dole for at least 15 years, so aren't upto date with whatever benefit you get.
What about telling CCCS?
What happens to my DMP and the money I owe?
Can I go bankrupt?
All these questions are constantly in my head.0 -
Thank you also.bankscausepain wrote: »As Pennywise2012 said, you have to see this an opportunity. An opportunity to find a new job, hopefully a more exciting job, and one that pays more money. Which will eventually speed up your debt repayment.
There aren't many better paid jobs around these parts I'm afraid....Did you really want to work at the council for the rest of your career? Take the redundancy package and move upwards in the world.
No, I didn't, but I'm not exactly qualified to do much else.I trust at this stage you are researching the local and regional job market.
Yes, but there aren't many better paid jobs around these parts I'm afraid.... I need a salary much better than what I am on now if I need to commute or get a bus each day.
Thanks though..0 -
I replied on another post to let you know that I have been made redundant twice whilst on our DMP. The first time I came out with some redundancy pay and a job to go to. The second time the company went into liquidation, had no money and we had no notice just a phone call to say they weren't paying us:eek: Panic wasn't in it as my OH is a gardener and we all know how bad the weather has been!
I managed to get another job within 2 weeks and on more money so you never know what is around the corner. You just need to keep your spirits and determination up and you never know you could find yourself in a better position... every cloud and all that:)
Take care and good luck

Thank you, you have shone a little light into my very long, dark tunnel..0 -

Cheers, I hope so.
I just take it personally that I'm not wanted after 10 years, they have decomissioned our department and are putting us on the scrapheap..0 -
Don't take it personally. The Tories have been cutting the public sector back to dangerous levels since they took over.0

This may or may not help but my mum was made redundant from ombc and she was told that if she took certain jobs in a certain time they would take her redundancy pay back off her. That probably hasn't helped. Although she now likes her new job more as the customers are much nicer and she gets better benefits.
Have you looked at the jobs for unity? That would be local?
I've just remembered I was in Rochdale last week, they're having a great big council building built!!0 -
How tied are you to Rochdale? - You could in theory apply anywhere in Europe for work. Its just a case of getting out there and seeing what is available - although it is difficult to get work a long way from where you are based.
The world is your oyster. You could make a new start anywhere you want to be.0
