As for the food budget - it is often possible to cut down the cost, but actually up your intake of nutritious, home cooked meals (you won't be getting much from beans and toast).

To be clear, I am not (and I don't think anyone else is either) saying that RG has no right to feel the way he does. The way he feels is understandable, and I've been there, but he also needs to get pro-active and make some changes in order to get out of this situation.

My work tried to push me out, rather than pay redundancy, and I had to fight back in order to keep my job. That was soul destroying too. It still is. Whilst they have backed down and admitted that they were wrong (at least on one level), I still have to deal with the constant sniping and insuations that I can't do my job properly. I have to stand my ground each and every day, all whilst one of my managers has gone off sick long term, and the other is only supposed to be in the office 3 days but barely manages that, and I'm left to play manager to the team AGAIN - when she's here, she's spends 90% of her time trying to criticise me. I stood at the top of my stairs and cried for half an hour on Monday morning, before I was able to get myself off to work. So I KNOW, I get it, but I still need the money and until OH's job situation is sorted too (we're possibly relocating to the UK) it's all become a bit of 'another day, another euro' type situation.

RG - you have my every sympathy - limbo is a horrid place to be - but you have the option of being pro-active and searching for another job now, regardless of whether they make you redundant. You don't need to wait on them, you can take action yourself and improve things too.

Sorry wasn't meaning to imply that your posts weren't sympathetic to RG's situation. When you are in a bad place hearing that other people are also in a bad place can help, you feel you are not the only one etc. and you feel people are on your side supporting you.

However this doesn't seem to help RG. As he says he is still in the s**t whatever anyone on this thread says. Some people can rise to adversity and some can't, it defeats them and RG certainly seems defeated to me.

    Hi,

I found you today from the DMP & Mutual support thread. I've not read much yet, but I really do feel for you. I live in Oldham, so can offer local support/ear to bend, if you need it.

He certainly does, but that's why I thought it would help him to hear that other people have been able to overcome it. If they can do it, so can he. I truly believe that everyone is capable of that, if they are given the right tools - in this case the necessary advice and information - and support.

Come on RG, you can do this! We're all behind you 100%!

Just a quick hello to everyone, I haven't had time to read all your posts but thank you for making them. I will give them the "credit" (ahem) they deserve when I am at home later, so thank you. Im NOT ignoring you.

I just need to use this thread as a 'scratchpad' and jot some things down for myself really.

I have just signed up to my free for life Noddle account, and not suprisingly my credit score is 1 out of 5, that was no major suprise to me.

Anyway, it seems excellent for a FREE report.
But it doesn't however list my Northern Rock unsecured loan or previously closed credit cards such as an American Express card or a Capital One card, strange.... oh well.

Right, helpful notes for me for later.

    Account name & date opened:
    RBS 'MINT' = 02/04/1999
    MBNA = 29/09/2000
    RBS 'MasterCard' = 03/10/2003
    BARCLAYCARD (was EGG) = 14/05/2004
    OPUS = 22/10/2008

Now I know when the accounts were opened, and I have all this free from Noddle, I am going to follow this advice from SmithyJones:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=55155021&postcount=31247

Hello everyone! After reading the article on this site I have managed to get back £2000 from MBNA. I didnt use any agencies / companies either so the refund is 100% mine! I didnt even have any paperwork as it was all shredded may years ago. this is what I did:

register with noddle.co.uk - here you will get all of your current and closed account information (mortgages / credit cards / loans etc).

They only provde the last 4 digits of the account numbers but this still worked for me.

I simply wrote to EVERYONE on the list complaining about PPI and hey presto - a £2k refund. The only cost to me was some time and some stamps. The easiest £2000 Ive ever made.

If you havent done it DO IT NOW.

    Good Luck!

Well, it's a distraction from my current worries (slightly) and worth a try, isn't it? A few stamps and 5x £1 postal orders.

I think I use this letter here: http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/attachment/ppitandc.rtf

May as well try for a PPI claim, if it doesn't work, I''ll just get more stressed and down....

End of talking to myself post, but feel free to comment anyone.

I'll post properly later and read and reply to all the new posts on here, thank you

Thank you for that, sorry you have had such a tough time.

I now have an action plan, see my post #207 above.

    Well, it's a start I guess?

Thing is, and this may sound harsh, but what is your plan? We could go round in circles for days, months even years here but you need to do something about this situation.

You need to put a plan in place.

I was given a stark choice of paying the debt back and stop drinking or lose my wife, child and house so I did that. I have sacrificed everything that I didn't need to do that. All I do is work, eat, sleep and stay in. Now I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I will be debt free.

If your plan need to start with a visit to the Doctors then you go.
If you have to sell the bl***** car, then you sell it.
If you need to go bankrupt then do it.

You are in your forties and this debt will still be here when your 65 if you carry on like this. Unless, of course, it is taken out of your hands and legal action starts, which is a possibility.

I know what your going through, i've been there (told to leave my home, my wife, my child and sleeping at my mothers) but I did what I had to do.

So why not ring National Debtline, get an appointment with a debt advisor and see what your options are? That way you can start formulating a plan because your current situation cannot continue - with or without redundancy.

    Thanks CCCS_Mat.

I'll contact CCCS after the weekend, thanks for confirming that information, I got it wrong.

Hi and thanks for your post.

As you’re already a client of ours I’d recommend that you call us so that we can look at your situation in more detail. It’s not true that you need a set amount of surplus money to do a DMP, it depends entirely on your own individual situation.

We could also signpost you to what welfare benefits would be available to you after the redundancy.

    Our free Helpline is on 0800 138 1111. We’re open Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm and Saturday 9am until 3.00pm.

    I hope this helps,

    Kind regards,

    Mat
