we had them at our wedding 24 years ago but they were just little bags of sugared almonds which my cousins wife made for me. anything more than that just seems a waste and will probably end up in the bin or as more clutter

I din't have them and most weddings I've been to haven't had them either. They just seem like an added expense to me.

I have to say I think they are a waste of money.

Most weddings I have been to, they are just left on the table or taken home and thrown away after a couple of weeks.

Really do not see the point of them personally.
  • This thread had me crying with laughter. I stressed so much about our wedding favours and ended up buying gorgeous hand made honey soap and wrapping them in wooden boxes with a fresh cream rose attached to each one for the ladies. For the men we had a mini bottle of whiskey and a multi tool key ring. 1/2 the lovingly wrapped soaps are still in use in our loos and we will never be without a screwdriver or a torch thanks to the key rings left :rotfl: The 23 mini bottles of whiskey left on the tables are still in the garage.... Don't waste your money OP is my opinion. I hope you have a lovely day favours or not though :)

  • You want to try going to a Nigerian wedding. At the more traditional ones some of the guests compete with each other to buy stuff for all the other guests, people come round with binbags of trinkets to hand out. Usually quite odd choices of stuff too - branded with the couples names and wedding date. Pens and notepads, ok, quite useful. But what is anyone going to do with a Tshirt with a photo of the couple on the front? Or a baseball cap with their names and wedding date printed on it (had several of those)? Teatray with the happy couple on? Had some sort of grey plastic basket thing personalised with the wedding details. Shopping bags with the wedding details printed on (ok I guess also something you could use). Laundry bag with printed details.

And they are always really badly printed too!

Oddest one was someone handing out Paxo table salt - obviously no branding added, just the ordinary packets of salt. I did ask another guest if salt had some cultural 'luck' meaning, but no, they were just as confused as me!

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.
  • Salt sounds the most universally useful in that list :D

I'd be really tempted to hide a little toy in each salt packet, the way we used to get them in cereal packets. I'd bet the guests would be really surprised! Lol.
  • we arent having favours however we are having a candy buffet with paper bags on the table so if people were to moan about it we have a candy buffet.

  • Oh, you simply have to include a little basket of tiny toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes too. :D

Not having a go (after all each to his own!) but seriously why?

These seem to be the latest must have as well and these I really don't get.
