NoAngel - I'm not allowed to take the pill anyore because I get migraine with aura, but I'm considering asking for it for a short term thing. It just seems wrong that after trying to get my periods to come back for years now I want rid again!0

Not read the whole thread, sorry, but just to let you know that apparently the IUS (coil with hormones aka Mirena) can make periods much much lighter if not to disappear completely. Might be worth considering if you have not done so already? Coils can take a little while to settle once fitted so bear this in mind if you do go for it. Whatever you decide, I hope it works out for you x0

Ok just scanned thread and saw you had a bad experience with the coil. I've just had my 2nd one in. The 1st about 15 years ago was awful! Painful, no painkillers, done by a male doc etc etc. After much persuasion and putting off had my 2nd one in about 5 weeks ago, completely different doctor (lady), had valium beforehand (prescribed) and ibuprofen & local anesthetic 'up there'. Had pain on about 3rd and 4th day after insertion but otherwise ok.0

I have the contraceptive implant, but I do still get the occassional 'visit'. Unfortunately I was visited (very lightly) on the day before our wedding last year. Apologies if this is TMI for anyone, but what I did was:
- Used pads in the morning before leaving the house
- Used a tampon literally just before putting dress on
- Clean pad before putting dress on
- Went into disabled toilet at venue when I needed to change. Asked mum to undo back of dress. Asked to wait outside disabled toilet
- Removed dress, remove tampax (also removed bra which was SOOOOO uncomfortable), leave (clean) pad in place
- Called mum back in to re-dress me.
Entire process was actually quite quick & easy. Fortunately my visitor left during the evening reception though!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
wow i think i am glad this thread was made.
Something that might happen on the big day etc, but we all hope it doesn't.
I have an appointment with a gp tomorrow to discuss what options there are for me, so hopefully i will have something to stop the dreaded tampax fairy, I mean look at her face would you really want her as a guest at the wedding?
will update after the appointment.
