Ah just saw your comment about not being able to go on the pill as you smoke...hmm. Can't think of any suggestions then other than speaking to your GP and seeing what s/he has to say!0

haha James love it.
I used to be on the pill, and i never had a break for a good 5 years, was having too many problems *whispers Down there, the doctor advised that i could just not have a break.
But when i moved to a new doctor it was all no no no you can't have the pill you smoke, been a smoker for more years than being on the pill... but no they were adamant then, but will ask again now as it is only for a short term use.0 -
I was due on, on our wedding day, in 2010.
I went to see my GP the month before, explained, and she gave me pills to delay my period, until after the wedding and honeymoon.
74Jax, of course it would be a problem, well it would have been for me. How was I meant to 'change' easily with a big ivory frock on? I wouldn't have been able to sit down without worrying, and we wouldn't have been able to do the hokey cokey on our honeymoon

Would it be a real problem if it did happen? Could you maybe use a light pad or tampax just in case? I am due around our wedding but after being with h2b for 8 years I figure he knows when I am due better than me!
well thankfully i am not a blushing bride expecting the earth moving on the night then
It's just another faff in the equation, add to that that i have MS and it really makes life more difficult. what with having a house full from the day before all through to the evening..0 -
If you don't want the faff of taking the pill and doctors are being funny about it due to smoking, I would suggest asking about the contraceptive patch. It's progesterone-only AFAIK, and so wouldn't have the same clotting risks as the pill. Plus, easy to hide away, no need to "change" on the day, and you don't need to remember anything.0

ah yes, :rotfl: I hadn't even considered the 'changing' with a big dress, you see mine isn't too big and so I could manage ok, but yeah I see what you mean - actually laughing I didn't even think of that.
I'm not worried of mine leaking, it doesn't happen now, and know which absorbancy to use (what a topic) :rotfl:
As for the hokey cokey I may be in the minority but it doesn't stop us, whether at home,on holiday or whatever.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Thanks this thread is very interesting .. its something I've been wondering about.
I won't be able to change easily in my dress and think I'll be having enough emotions before and during the big day, so might take a visit to the GP.

I think the pill should be ok on a short term basis. I don't have it as bad as you, but it is a little all over the place! I got told I couldn't have the pill because of migraines, but it was a long term risk, and being in it short term was fine. So I am planning g on going to the drs a couple of months before, and asking for a months worth again!:T0

Its one of those questions that just needed to be asked.
It's something that blights our lives and we could do without on the big day.
I don't have a big puffball dress but there are so many layers etc..
I hope the doctor is sympathetic to my needs of just stopping it for a month. its going to be a busy month as it is..0
