I had some newish OPI glitter polishes that have gone really thick and gloopy even though the lids are tightly on and they are stored properly. The Katy Perry glitter has already become really gloopy, but I have read blogs where other people are complaining about this problem.
What I have tended to find is that some of my polishes (esp. No7) get what looks like an oily deposit on top (about 1cm thick). It doesn't matter how much I shake them it doesn't fully mix up again.
I have not tried thinning any of the "thicker" glitters so not sure if it would work. The Shatters are pretty gloopy too, I will try to thin one next time I use it. The polishes I did have to bin for something similar to yours were No. 7, a very old Revlon and a very old Avon, but I have Rimmels that are really old and they are great, as are some really old, non 3 Free OPI's that were given to me by a friend who used to be a sales rep for them. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Great thread! I take advantage of the £5 No7 vouchers that Boots give out, and always use them to buy a new nail polish
Most of mine are green, purple and blue though- my fave... Loving your fingernails sawan82, that is a gorgeous colour!

Has anybody used Nails Inc Caviar base coat? I seem to have nails peeling since I started using base coat more regularly. Though it could be related or just some vitamin/mineral lacking in my diet!!

some nice photos of nails, pretty ! Fanny Adams , you say you get 24 hours out of your polished nails . Me too + it puts me off wearing my polishes , I have quite a lot to use . I've got OPI, Leighton Denny , No 7 + cheaper ones . Even with the expensive ones , they still chip easily + I do base + top coats too . Is it bad for nails to keep taking polish off + re applying every other day ? How long does everyone else get before nail polish chips etc ?0

Mine usually last a week before they start to chip.
Make sure your nails are scrupulously clean before you start to polish them. I scrub them with soap and a nail brush then dry them thoroughly. You might need to wash your hands between coats as well. If there's any grease/cream/gunk on your nails at all then they'll chip really quick.
Buffing your nails once a fortnight or so should help as well, a smoother surface seems to help the polish stick.0
