As a nail tech, I'm not an advocate of biting nails or fiddling with cuticles. However, I'm also owner of nails and cuticles and it's easier said than done :o Try sorting out your cuticles with some nippers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-PRO-NAIL-CLIPPER-CUTTER-TOE-MANICURE-SCISSORS-NAIL-ART-Cuticle-NIPPER-ARCYLIC-/310385448359?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Nails_Manicure_Pedicure_CA&hash=item48446a15a7#ht_2310wt_1220 they're well worth having, your nails will be much tidier.

    YUCKY PICTURE ALERT...
Regarding biting nails, a bit of tough love... IF you or someone you know can't stop nibbling, click HERE.

I knooooow, don't blame me, I did warn you :p

    Thanks.
I have some nippers but seem to just end up doing more harm than good and creating new hangnails to rip! Its probably just my cackhandedness so I will try again.
The nippers are great for cutting my ridiculously hard nails, although I have to do it into a plastic bag or the shards are in danger of taking an eye out as they ping round the room.

That picture is *gross*. Good job dinner was some while ago!

So attempt 2 completed. Still not happy, they just look like white sploges on my nails.:(

They look much clearer and crisper. Maybe its just the choice of pattern and colour that's not doing it for you?
I've been totally put off white stamps on darker polishes since OH said it looked like a bird had pooped on my nail! Also I've found several patterns I like on the plates I don't then like on my nails, and vica versa.

Ok. So little ole me feeling a little bit smug at the mo. After many many failed attempts at the marbling after beginners luck I have managed to turn these out!!! (also the fact that a few vodkas were involved during the process makes me feel even more smug. lol). I know they aren't perfect but I'm happy with the result.

I bought some NYC polish today which is thinner and seems to spread a lot better in the water as appose to the Barry M I was trying it with.

These are topped off with a GOSH shiney top coat I bought for 99p.

That looks lovely - really classy colour combo too.

So I ordered some striping tape last week from eBay. Seller description said she was in the UK, and gave a name of town. Got the dispatch email which said it could take up to 20 days which struck me as odd as she was in the uk!

Done a bit more digging and turns out seller is actually in china! Not that fussed TBH, but why do they have to fib!!!

I bought a set of dotting and striping tools and found the same. I'm not pleased as its been weeks and they are not here and I'd just as soon have paid a few more £s so I could have taken them on holiday to play :(
Now I'm back I've emailed them again, but they may be getting a poor feedback regardless as I'm not fond of fibbers.

Well they turned up yesterday, postmarked in the UK so they must have just sent them from the uk. The slip inside was a very poor google translation tho.....

Thanks, probably a case of trial and error.....
  • oh this holo business is all just getting too complicated! original plan was to keep an eye on ebay for speciallita. but now I don't know if I should go for the layla holos, get some spectraflair and go for a franken, or just wait and see if gosh do re-release their holo! decisions, decisions...
  • and on a completely different subject... going on from the idea of using porcelain transfers or temporary tattoos for nail art... how about some of this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-sheets-Temporary-Tattoo-Tatoo-Transfer-Decal-Paper-Inkjet-Printer-Only-/220872125173?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D220882593072%26ps%3D54#ht_4347wt_780 (that's my first ever link so I hope it works) I'm not specifically recommending that seller by the way, it's just the first result I found - you can get tattoo paper all over the place. If it works, the possibilities are endless :)

Thats an interesting idea. I could set up my own designs through Adobe Illustrator and print a batch on to the paper!

As an aside, have any of you heard of 'Skin Food' cosmetics? I bought a really cheap gel eyeliner from eBay last week and it transpires its better than any of the expensive brands I use. A little digging reveals they are a huge brand in Korea and they get great reviews.

I'd completely missed their nail polishes on eBay because most are listed as Nail Vita, although this one is listed correctly:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skinfood-Milk-Creamy-nail-polish-soft-manicure-8ml-new-/220793197140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item33684cd254#ht_10645wt_1141

Some lovely colours there, and reasonable price as well. Its getting good reviews. May have to test purchase :D
