I regularly have a little moan about the lack of places to buy nail polish where I live, but today I found Technic Carnival in Original Factory shop for £1 - bought it.:j
Then Supermarket in next town had Marie Claire with Ciate polishes, a pink, a taupe or a lilac and Bazaar with Leighton Denny, choice of Coral Reef, Plush Pink or Supermodel, resisted all so far.........;)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hi TG (is it ok to shorten?)
Its NYC Mint Macaroon- the bottle is shown on the pic of Backhoes marbling at the top of this page
It's fine to shortenI'm called a few things, TG, Tiger and Tigs so help yourself lol!
I love love love the Mint Macaroon colour, it's a lovely sagey/duck egg colour on my screen. I've just realised it's the same colour that we've painted two walls in our bedroomI always go for the more unique colours. I must get some photos together of my stash.
You've inspired me to want to do a water mani even more now. I rescued some A4 document wallets (the plastic ones that you put papers into in ring binders) and they look absolutely perfect for a non-water mani, too.0 -
I couldn’t enter her blog, it wouldn’t work. All i saw was the original one off photo.
However just found her via flicker.
*shamefaced*
I think her finger may be like that, if so I would like to offer my humblest of apologies to the lass for poking fun at her. I thought it was a one off affectation for the photo and made my statement based on that assumption.
Just goes to show, you should never make assumptions.
I am so very Sorry and will remove the link from my posts.
I didn't see the links butI have a few health problems too, sometimes my nails look like my 4 year old niece did them.
I hope the lady comes and joins us on here0 -

Hi guys,
I'm after some advice, and you lot are the resident nail experts so...
Where does a beginner start with painting nails? I'm not looking to do fancy nail art (yet!) but I'm just trying to get a nice, even, streak-free single colour without getting polish all over my skin and cuticles too! I have looked on youtube but all the people who post videos on there are experienced and make it look so easy, and it isn't. I especially have trouble doing my right hand since I'm right handed. I don't have anyone who can do it for me so I really need to learn.
How do you do it?
Thanks!0 -

Not got much posting time, but agree wholeheartedly.
Having a few (non-related) websites of my own and being a bit of a stats junkie, it's occurred to me before that when we link to manis that fall short of what we expect to see online (untidy cuticles etc), it would be easy enough for the owners to chase the link in their stats to this thread, only to find out that we were not exactly being complimentary. The appearance of the lovely lady whose holo manis we all gushed over confirmed this for me.
And then this afternoon, I found myself joining in with something that turned out to be quite ugly. I'm not proud of it (and not blaming anyone else either - I think we were thoughtless rather than deliberately malicious), but it's been bothering me all day that just replacing my post with an apology was inadequate. Considering we're all shamelessly addicted to our manis, there would be a lot more photos of them on the thread if we all walked round with our nails looking perfect all the time
So, in the unlikely event of the lady in question ever reading this, as well as an apology I'd like to thank her for reminding me that there's a big difference between making the best of ourselves while enjoying doing it, and displaying uncomfortably conceited vanity.
Lets all have fun with our nails, and appreciate each other for whatever we bring to the party :TFreddie Starr Ate My Signature

I've learned this last few weeks that the addition of the word 'nail' sends basic craft items through the roof. A lot of the time the same products are found for half the price in card making stores. I'm currently trying to work out if translucent nail foil is the same as translucent card making foil.
Thanks for that. Of course I wanted the green which is out of stock but I've requested notification, and shall be getting some as soon as its back. Then to make an almighty mess!0 -

Can you tell I'm upset!!! Honestly I'm stooopid sometimes!
Hey for a second attempt that's not bad - don't beat yourself up. I've tried far more times and have really only succeded with the stamps that don't need to be exactly in line and with the polka dot ones.
I have not yet given up though - I leave my nails without stamps until I plan to take the polish off then have a practice go over them all a few times. If I have top coat on I can get away with stamping, then removing just stamp and some top coat with cotton bud and remover, and trying another stamp again. The third attempt is pushing it but practice is helping and I'm *very* slowly getting to grips with it.
I don't have flikr or anything so can't seem to post pictures or you could hoot with laughter at some of my more awful attempts. I plan to put all the pics I have on facebook then open that gallery up to public and will post a link when I finally get a round tuit0
