Sitting down and having a good session with my varnishes is like a period of quiet introspection. I can come away feeling revitalised and refreshed by a bit of time, just on my own, deeply immersed in a pleasurable hobby. It’s almost the same feeling I get after a very good yoga session, deep centred calm, but without the sweat J
(Admittedly followed by a bout of girlish glee and gallivanting the house to gaze on the polish in different lights and marvel at the loveliness)
Today was not like this.
The rest of my Ebay stash arrived. The dibber arrived on its own where I ordered a pack of 3 different sizes. Went and looked at the advertisement and more fool me it was for one, not three and as such could have got cheaper. So I was grumpy at the get go. The striping brushes arrived and I got three more than expected... odd but that didn’t resolve the grump lol.
Settled down at my table to play and I could not find my little plastic sheet so I had to charge off round the house looking for it (this irritated me as I have a box where all my nail stuff is kept neatly away and it all ONLY stays there). Then once settled managed to knock my varnish remover over (all caught on said sheet) At this point I was frazzled and went and had a cuppa.
Back to my table feeling a bit calmer started painting nails and managed to get all over my cuticles. While cleaning up managed to smudge one by touching against another finger, while cleaning that up a bit of ninja hidden sticky tape from a striping experiment yesterday stuck itself to my pinkie and took the polish off (base/two coats/quick dry/wet look top coat arrrgh) when I tried to remove it.
Finally I had them all in order and painted when I noticed one last bit... leaned in with the bud and banged my elbow on the table edge and promptly smeared the bud across the front of the nail.
After inventing swearwords for some time and cultivating a face like thunder i decided to call it quits. Here is my quick go at striping/dotting just to play with brushes, there is no top coat or clean up it was just to check how they worked. Now off to do some yoga to get some of that centred calm

Aaaaaand breathe :rotfl:
I hate it when I get a day like that. You've got a fab result though, I love the colours. The green is very pretty, which make/colour is it?0 -

The way you told the story made me chuckle. Sorry. I know how it feels when it doesn't go right.
Forgot to say, they look lovely by the way!0 -
So I ordered some striping tape last week from eBay. Seller description said she was in the UK, and gave a name of town. Got the dispatch email which said it could take up to 20 days which struck me as odd as she was in the uk!
Done a bit more digging and turns out seller is actually in china! Not that fussed TBH, but why do they have to fib!!!0 -

You know when something really puts you off something?
THIS
I think it's probably the most cuticle unfriendly paint job yet0 -

Lovely cuticles!! Really....
I'm currently sporting a rather chipped, quick french manicure. Building a shed and carting things around this last few days has left me looking a bit ropey in the hand department. Hopefully will try and rectify this later on though.0 -

I think can go one better - when you guys mention a colour I shamelessly Google it and then check out images to luxuriate in your good eye for mesmerising polishes.
I did this when you were all mentioning Hefesto the other day.
I found this pic...... felt very disturbed, closed the page and promised never to Google a colour again.
(there likely to be a very good reason for the setup of the polish enclosed but as the blog post is not in English it escapes me)
