I couldn't agree more - the best route out of poverty and to provide for children should be through employment, working longer hours, getting a better paid job, getting qualifications that enhance pay and so on. A person has more control over that and more likelihood of success than just expecting the state to feel sorry for a breakdown in relationship and subsidising them to have the same quality of life as before.0
