ESA50 form

Received the dreaded ESA50 form today for OH.

Have to try and find the energy to start all over again with filling it in.

I have downloaded it this time, as I thought it would easier to type it.
I thought I would be able to do it in stages and save it as I go along, but it just seems to revert back to the blank form again.

Does anyone know if you can type on it and then save it, or do you just have to fill the whole lot in in one go and print it?

Also, do they keep previous forms that have been submitted. I feel I want to refer them back to the last form, but would that just fall on deaf ears?

Why haven't the government just abandoned this ATOS lot, it is just a joke, but not at all funny.

Thanks for any advice.

You need to download a copy to your computer and save it there before updating it.

You can enter the same information if nothing has changed, but you need to check that the descriptors have not been changed since your last assessment, they were last updated in April 2010.

Ah yes.. as above... you'll need to take a copy to your computer so do a 'save as' and then use that document. (When saving as you fill in the form use 'ctrl + s' buttons rather than the save button on screen as frustratingly it acts as a 'save as' function which is annoying..lol.) Make sure it is the current version (03/2011 at bottom left of page). Again, as per above, descriptors and form may have changed since you last were assessed... and additionally I would advise against referring to previous form as it may not be available. However, with any luck, next time you are re-assessed hopefully things (descriptors/form) won't have changed and you can simply utilise this ESA50 you're completing now.

Thanks, have worked out how to do it now:o

Think I will just basically copy the information from the previous form, as most of it is still valid, the only difference is that his condition has worsened. It certainly will make it a lot easier being able to type it.

No doubt he will have to attend another farcical medical assessment and the doctor will say he can go back to work in a few months time:mad:

Why is it that even when a person has a condition that is not going to improve, they keep putting that with suitable treatment it will?

When are the government going to ditch ATOS? Can't they see what a load of to$$ers they are just fleecing the country for millions.

  • Thanks for this thread to remind me that the form can be completed in a .pdf form then printed.

Filling in the form with a pen could result in writer's cramp! And you needn't worry about being able to cram enough info into the boxes with a .pdf plus spelling errors can be rectified easily and it looks far neater for those of us with poor or difficult to read handwriting.
  • I filled in the form in pen and made a right mess of it! So good job PDF is about can type it all, print sign and send, nice and easy!

You will need to update to the latest version of Adobe to save your writing on the form, but its a free download.

They prefer to use a completely disposable private company (ATOS) to do their dirty tricks, so that they can blame and disown them when they are found out.

But aren't they doing the job well that the government asked them to do?

Why would they want to disown them when they are managing to save £millions for the government in refusing dodgy disability claims?

Without them, this country could not afford to support the genuine claimants.

Because they are refusing genuine disability claims, which would be embarrassing for the Government if it becomes widely known.

That's not quite true is it?

They are only refusing 'genuine' claimants because the claimant has failed to provide medical evidence to support that they should have at least 15 points from the various descriptors.

When eventually they do provide this evidence, generally at a tribunal the original decision is overturned. That is the fault of the claimant, not of the DWP!!

The rest - the so called 'genuine claimants' ATOS are doing their job and weeding out the fraudsters.
