can you buy a single appliance off them?
thought it was part of the supply and fit deal?

Wouldn't buy their appliances as I managed to buy same cooker hood/extractor for less than half price on the web from Kitchens direct.Toots

This was posted earlier on in the thread so I guess you can. Haven't tried myself though.
  • At the moment the quote from MFI is to supply intergated fridge and freezer in the diplomat range. But from what i've read on this thread that will change!

The range cooker we want has to be 90cm wide and needs 3 compartments.
Belling do one in SS but its not cheap, I'll probably surf the net until I find the cheapest price.

Don't pay MFI anything until they confirm they have the FF in stock. Read my earlier post about my dishwasher saga  . I don't think I'd ever buy appliances from MFI again, I said that about a kitchen although that was before I knew about Howdens ;) .

We ordered an MFI kitchen at the start of the year and they can't even fit it until May-June. That's nearly 6 months between ordering and fitting.

The fitting charge is not what it might seem either as we have been quoted many £100's for extras on top of the fitting charge that will need to be paid direct to the fitters (and so are not covered by MFI).

A tip - the fitters claim that MFI cabinets are not a standard depth so you can't get a non-MFI standard size worktop of your own to fit.

Wow that's a long time. I ordered mine about 2 weeks ago and fitting is 2nd Arpil
  • Went back to Howdens today to fine tune the design we got from them.
Basically I gave them the design we got from MFI.
MFI's sale finishes this Wednesday so we want me made sure all the quotes we have so far are for the same layout.

My builder has just phoned to tell me the new price of the howden kitchen and it's £600 cheap than MFI's.
Howdens it is then, also I think we will be better dealing with Howdens than MFI if this thread is anything to go by.

    Next up the bathroom.
Might start a new thread "Plumbworld good or bad"

this weekend(sunday night) i found my kitchen flooded! on bank holiday monday the customer services said they would get someone out in emergancy, waited allday and nothing happened, the next day they said someone would contact us .....waited and nothing! time to invest in wellies as my floor is like being on a raft and noone to rescue us! wednesday still noone cares! thursday morning dishwasher repair man arrives and confirms it is not the dishwasher at fault but the way it has been installed all the back is dinted it has been pushed so far up to water pipes its damaged them and a shower spray has formed etc, teatime MFI fitter confirms it is a pipe but cant see exactly where until tomorrow afternoon when we will have to remove paneling on wall to reveal the mistakes of the original MFI fitter from hell! the worktop is sopping underneath but luckily hasnt yet soaked through to top(hope we've found it in time!) the wall it wet through so bad the plaster is dropping off and it is constantly dripping, the sides of cupboard have blown, the floor damage is now on it way through dining room as we have same quick step laminate all way through to front door!
"More F*****g Inconveniance" is all it stands for so please be careful to get someone competant to fit your kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We’ll be installing a new kitchen in the next 4 months. We like the high gloss finish and after last weekend at the moment MFI are looking favourite to get our business.
However this weekend we’ll be visiting Magnet Trade and Howdens.
We’ve also had a few other companies round to quote for a kitchen and I’m amazed just how much the quotes vary. Just how much can you sell a piece of MDF for?!

On another note has anyone got one of these high gloss kitchens, in particular the laminated doors style rather than painted doors.
If so have you had any problems with it? i.e. Marks easily.

We are also in the process of getting quotes for a high gloss finish kitchen. We have been to quite a few suppliers including John Lewis and Magnets. The thing which amazed me was that although Magnets are offering a 50% discount at the moment (are'nt they always?), if you take the price before the 50% is deducted, it is the highest figure of the lot. Just how much are they adding on to compensate for the 50% discount? Also, Magnet have quoted us TWO GRAND more for the cooker hood we wanted! What the ..?!!!?????

We're on our second high gloss finish kitchen, both from IKEA.

Chose the black for our last house & everyone was impressed with the finish & unusual choice of colour. Looked really smart.

The one here, in our flat is red & again looks really great!

Keeping a shine & finger marks off - most peoples worry - is easy, with a spray glass cleaner & micro fibre cloth!

We also used the cheap white glass mosaic tiles from Homebase & again, looks different & posh, at a budget price!!
