we had our kitchen from mfi 2 years ago and fitted by them and its fantastic the fitters were wonderful there was some damaged bits he got on to them straight away and they arrived within 2 days while he was fitting the kitchen
We haggled the price as well and as it was a big sale they couldnt give us money off but gave us extra cover for 5 years on all appliances if you dont ask you dont get lol
He even gave us his mobile number just in case we found any problems after his gone the salesperson who designed the kitchen was brilliant as well
The only advice i would give you is dont buy thei appliances (diplomat) we did buy a washing machine long story went wrong waited 10 weeks without one and as i got CAB on their back i got a brand new one but hotpoint lol
And mfi extra care stinks0 -
Mfi kitchens are fine, as long as the carcases are installed correctly/proffessionally. Most of the cost is on the doors and the quality of them. I am a supplier of Howdens which are the same. Most carcases are built in the same way unless you have tens of thousands to spend.0

I also was told it's best to get the 5 year aftercare for all the appiances but the cost was over £750 and wasnt happy to pay that much so i got a discount of £350 There are plenty of different discounts to have it,s just knowing how to get them0

I bought an MFI kitchen (malton oak)..as house is still bieng done up..have got it held on deposit, but having worked at MFI whilst at UNI..I can honestly say that most of the MFI kitchens are good quality..especially the Schrieber ones..end of the day if you go for 1 of the budget ranges..you get what you paid for.
I also ordered a Farmhouse Range cooker from them as well as an integrated Bosh fridge and went for Granite Worktop.
Some people seem to be having bad experiences with cleaning Granite worktops..can others please give their views on Granite worktops..
Must say even though it is expensive the Kelmsoctt Oak kitchen looks nice..0 -

However this weekend we’ll be visiting Magnet Trade and Howdens.
We’ve also had a few other companies round to quote for a kitchen and I’m amazed just how much the quotes vary. Just how much can you sell a piece of MDF for?!
On another note has anyone got one of these high gloss kitchens, in particular the laminated doors style rather than painted doors.
If so have you had any problems with it? i.e. Marks easily.
well said!
all the basic units are virtually the same, just the doors more expensive? ie real oak doors maybe 50 quid each, how come there can be many many thousands of pounds difference in price?
and the fact that a salesman can knock off 2500 quid without blinking should really set your alarm bells off!
and when they start selling the warranty insurance hard, then run away very fast.Get some gorm.0 -

Please can you let me know how you get on at Howdens? It sounds like we like the same range from MFI (Space)? Would be very interested to know what the difference in price is

We used Howdens, they were very good, Howdens do have most of the MFI range but it will be called something else, the Kensington in MFI will be the Balmoral in Howdens, made those ranges up but you know what I mean, the guy in our local Howdens wrote us a list of the different names so we could go to MFI to look as they have a much better display. The Howdens price list seems very expensive in comparison but our builder showed us the quote and he got 65% discount on most of the stuff and even more on some of the plinths. So ask the builder to see the quote to avoid him making a big mark up on top of any fitting charges.0 -

Thanks for your info. My OH will be installing the kitchen. He's a plumber and has his own business so he'll be able to open a trade account - I understand this is required by Howdens. So am I right in what you're saying that there is 2 price lists - One that your builder got and the Howdens price list? Cheers

If you know a carpenter, ask him to get a Howdens account then you can get the same kitchen cheaper!0

There is only 1 price list as far as I know but this was discounted by 65% for most things and even more for some other plinths and stuff. The Builder we used has been around for a while and recommends Howdens, so maybe his discount is greater than a new account holder, I dont know, maybe they go on previous sales, you will have to ask.0
