I have an MFI kitchen which was installed by MFI over 6 years ago now and is still in pristine condition. I would certainly have another when the time comes. We asked the salesman who the best fitter was and he told us who he thought that was in his option but it meant waiting for nearly three months to get the fitter we were recommended. Ask the salesman how busy the fitters are - you may be able to tell from that or it is just the luck of the draw. Our fitter not only fitted the kitchen but he was also a qualified electrician and did a bit extra for us which we had to pay for separately.
However, i do know that MFI charge a considerable amount for fitting - is it worth getting a quote from somewhere else to get it fitted and compare the costs?0 -
We got one from them approx 5 years ago, it was a 'schreiber', so the carcasses came already made.
we have had no problems at all, delivery was on time, all the bits were there, and there was no damage, we were so impressed that we fitted out 2 bedrooms with the 'schreiber' befroom furniture, again no problems.:D0 -
We fitted our own kitchen from the hygena range it still looks great, cant actually believe how good it looks after 6 years of knocks and bangs from a family of 4!!!! I have not had to do any repairs of doors/drawers, the finish still is in tip top condition and the worktops still look glossy and new!!!0

You'll probably be OK with the product & if you want them to fit, also. Plus you'll have someone to complain to, if something goes wrong.
We were NOT impressed with their price, even with their sale on & 'extra' discounts, it still worked out about 25% more than IKEA, for cabinet price. We used our own fitters & this was less than 1/2 cost of MFI quote, before you even consider their 'standard' charges for gas/electric work, which we thought high. Obviously this needs proper certification. But charging £10/mtr to REMOVE wall tiles seemed dear, so maybe look carefully at these add ons. & appliance choice/price wasn't as good as choosing the ones you want from other web suppliers.
What we actually did, was work out the layout we wanted, then got an appointment in store at MFI to price it & check/improve on our layout, using their planners & 3D computer print out they do, for free. Then buy at IKEA!!
You can download a good design planner of your own from IKEA, free. It's a bit fiddly at first, but dead easy once you've used it for a while. Even prices every item, as you go along - well worth a try!!

That's what we do too and see if we can get a better price.
Quality of kitchen is good, IMO though I would only buy the kitchen you want when it's properly reduced in the sale (which it will be quite soon as they just rotate what's on offer from what I've seen).
Sometimes they can be a bit hit and miss on delivery (you do get the stuff eventually!) and I always employ my own kitchen fitter as it is so much cheaper.
Howdens are rumoured to supply MFI and they are cheaper still. Worth taking your MFI print out to them too!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Personally, I would recommend you opt for a Shreiber model if you aren't too hot on diy and even though I am pretty competent, it took a long time to put the hygena units together for a previous kitchen I was beginning to lose the will to live!
In my current house, we opted for the Shreiber kitchen, we coupled it with a granite worktop and the kitchen looks really expensive and is still going strong. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

i liked my mfi kitchen but when we recently bought wardrobes from there we took the measurements with us and the salesman told us what we would need when we put them together we didnt need all the coving but they would not take it back because its not their policy to give refunds once it has been delivered unless its ordered off the internet
even complaining to head office was no good so this is just to tell you to beware what they sell you even though we are still pleased with the products0 -
We installed an MFI kitchen 13 years ago and it still looks in tip top condition. Would recommend them (although we fitted it ourselves).0

howdens is the trade arm of mfi. you will get a better price and everything is off the shelf so no shortages or mistakes0

We have an MFI kitchen, it was fitted by the previous owners of the house so I guess it's about 3 1/2 years old? It's a bit ropey in places - There is a tall cupboard used as a larder and the back of this has pushed back so I had to put some extra fixings in to hold it in place; One corner cupboard has a gap inside so that things fall out by the back of the boiler never to be seen again; and the dishwasher door has gone out of line somehow and now the cover panel nearly comes off when you open it.
I don't know if it was a particularly expensive or cheap kitchen and I don't know if MFI fitted it or the owners did it themselves but there are other smaller niggles as well and generally I wouldn't be happy had I had it done myself.
I have also bought some flatpack furniture from MFI - 6 or 7 pieces - and every single one had at least one damaged or missing part and it took weeks to get the replacements and the materials are pretty flimsy generally, I've had to make repairs to the drawer units since.
On the whole I'd say you get what you pay for. MFI is OK if you're starting to furnish a home on the cheap but you will end up having to replace some of it with better (more expensive) stuff after a while.
I would rather pay the extra for quality stuff myself.
As to your kitchen, try and visit some people who have had MFI kitchens to see what the quality is like, ask your friends/work colleagues if they've had one.0
