just been shopping at tesco and missed out on using that helping hand £5 off, as it wasnt it date. Unfortunately I needed my groceries today, so no £5 off my £40 spend today. :(

I have to renew my drivers licence, and went ot do it online, but have just discovered I received my passport 5.5yrs ago, and not within 5yrs like required :( so now I have to go get my photo taken and send it off snail mail. Must get new photo taken asap.

Brrrrrrrrr. -1 but feels like -9!!!! I'm staying in nice and cosy tonight!!

Got around £20 in amazon vouchers from TCB, added to £10 from v.opinions :D makes a little contribution to OHs purchase.

I also got my expenses approved, so that'll help too :D

I've not managed to make much little ops so far this month, must try harder! :rotfl:

nice quiet afternoon, OH is away doing an activity with some of his friends from 'back home' who are then going to come round for dinner and stay over.

I wasn't in the mood to be leaving the house in weather like this, so I will have the dinner ready and the house cosy for when they come in. :)

have been screened out of 3 surveys, halfway through the last one - fingers crossed!

have decided that I need a declutter. we've been in the house for 7 years, and now am running out of storage, and some drawers I swear I've never used anything in them!:rotfl:

I have millions of books, which I need to get rid of - I never read a paperback since I got my ereader 4 years ago! wish I sold them all back then, instead of being left with a pristine collection which is worth nothing! Nevermind the charity shop will score, but it would've been nice to earn some pennies :)

just heard visitors & OH are on their way back - best get going!

  • Good luck on the de-clutter. I recommend you tral through some of the minimalism sites for inspiration. We don't half the rubbish we buy, it doesn't make us happy and when you add up what you've spent on it, you'll cry!

As for the books, don't just chuck them. Have a look on eBay and see if the titles are in demand. Many are still worth a bit and can be sold. Failing that, try and see if your local second hand bookstore wants them as a job lot, especially if they are unread.

Charity is laudable but as the saying says, start it at home! If it means a bit extra into your mortgage payments, and the rest to charity then you both win.

    Good luck!

Well I managed to avoid the study and all the paperwork/books/clutter yesterday. watched the Grand Prix instead. :)

My books are all read, except you'd barely know :) I cry inside when people break the spines of books, fold pages or the worst of the worst write on them:eek: I'm going to have a clear out of them one day when OH isn't here and can't get annoyed at the mess I make. When I try to tidy up I end up dragging everything out and sitting in the middle of the room with everything around me. It's a slow, messy process but works for me, as I only put back what I want, which leaves me to figure out what to do with the stuff that's left.....usually it gets put in a box then secreted up the loft:rotfl: so not really a clear out!

Got some really really really good news today. I'm getting a pay rise :T after 4years of (significant) paycuts and freezes in between, despite two promotions, I'm finally getting somewhere. I had an honest and frank conversation with my boss at the new year when I opened up and said how under valued and over worked I felt. He said he'd look into it and 3months later I'm getting a raise to 'market value'. I knew they were getting a bargain:rotfl:

Anyways, just one more month to get through then my new salary will kick in, thank goodness as I have £12 to my name and 5 days til pay day. Which should be fine so long as I'm careful with not buying lunches! I'm hoping we're paid early due to the bank hols this weekend. :D

Cheers QBWolf, I certainly agree with you. It's a shame and wish I'd spoken up earlier instead of feeling so rubbish for such a long time. Also wondering if I'm the mug who accepted it for past few years and others have had pay rises to keep them happy and I've struggled on in silence just hoping to be noticed? :( actually I don't think so based on the volume of leavers and redundancies.

Anyways that's in the past and now I should be a bit more comfortable towards the end of the month :D roll on next month :D

I've decided to save 1/3, to OP 1/3 (to be matched by OH) and 1/3 will be for spending on me. No more going without or making do. I've not bought any new clothes for work in a good while so time to spruce up and invest in me :)
