Its time to grow up and pay off the mortgage

Forgot to say, when we first took out our mortgage at the end of 2006 the daily interest was £24.46.......today it is £9.07!!! :T though it is mostly likely to do with the fact our interest rate has halved since then!
Can't wait to get it down into the £8/day categorywonder how long that will take.

I have been reading and lurking but thought I'd delurk to say if you are earning Amaz*n vouchers you can use these to buy the Aussie stuff on there for free :j50p savers club member #16 - £6.000

Cheers luckynumber13, the OH gets amaz0n vouchers as rewards from his cc. We usually spend them on treats, as they're free, but would be much more sensible to buy essentials though
Feeling absolute rubbish with sinus pain recently, its like a sledgehammer to the face every time i moveworking from home today as not well enough for the commute and air conditioned office. Responding to emails with my face in a steamer.
Least my lunch is all organised as I had made my pack up last night. First week that I've not bought any food for lunch. :T and only bought 3 times in 20 days. It's amazing the difference to my bank account. Aim for feb is no external spends now I'm into the swing of thingsMortgage debt : -£17,000

Just got some nice towels and bath mats from Sains with 70% off. Perfect for guest bathroom.
Got charged wrongly for some vitamins so duly went back in to get the refund. Since I've taken to checking my receipts this year I've received £23 back from them overcharging me!
Spent quite a lot in Costco during January, but its all restocking. Got a new pair of glasses too so its been a spendy year so far. Now I just need to organise it allMortgage debt : -£17,000

How did you work out which items to put through first for the brand match? I like sainsbo for their fresh stuff and meat and any money back is a bonus!50p savers club member #16 - £6.000

I agree with you about sains fresh veg & meat, but always think their toiletries are over-priced. Had been noticing that a$da was significantly cheaper in the toiletries in the fliers that come through the door, but I hate shopping in our local a$da. So I decided to split out the toiletries from the groceries in my sainsbobs shop. It worked.
Went to get a sneaky chocolate Monday treat from the vending machine and actually gasped out loud – they’ve put up the prices to 70p!! Who on earth would pay that for a milky way or snickers when you can get 4 for £1 in the supermarkets! I’m curious to see if the vendor will come back next week to an already stocked machine; can’t see anyone paying that! Although I once took in a 4 pack of snickers to do the week and had eaten 2 in one day, so I’m useless!Mortgage debt : -£17,000

If I'm on my own I might do that through the self service as some of the staff are a bit loud and would comment!!
Vending machines are crazy prices. Although DS's school are good at keeping them low for drinks. I am terrible for 4 packs or Wispa or Flake50p savers club member #16 - £6.000 -
Febs OP went out, :T we should be down into another 10k bracket with next months payment + OP :T although it still begins with a 1!
Some £co payments filtering thru this week so should have another £5 or so to chuck to the mortgage soonits the little things that make it fun
On the not so good front, have spent £9.70 on lunches over past 2 days as have been out and about with workneed to sort this out as its a real bad habit I don't want to get back into.
Got my tesco points in and I have £45!!!!! Oh what to spend them onMortgage debt : -£17,000

Sound like you're doing well. With regards to lunches, it is merely a habit thing I find. SInce Xmas I have been religiously making my own lunch the night before and I make sure that what I take is what I eat and nothing else. I used to allow a £10/week for buying bits at work, the odd sandwich, chocolate etc. I have still budgeted for that but have been squirrelling it away instead as not been needed. This week I bought £50 worth of fishing tackle (my hobby) purely saved from not buying crap at work and from those robbing vending machines. Money saving is great, but a little treat every now and then is better, especially from a cash source that ordinarily would have been frittered away -try it!0

Thanks Southerndave- I'm the worlds worst for treating myself with snacks/chocolate if I'm having a stressful day, or a Monday, Friday etc! So maybe having money to spend just on me would work, and not feel like I'm not getting those little treats.....the treats will just be bigger:rotfl:
Since starting the £co checkins in December, I've received £6.90! :T I've just incorporated some browsing in random shops on the way to the train station!
Away to investigate the £co new grocery thing, hopefully its not too convoluted.Mortgage debt : -£17,000
