Have been so busy with work, I've fell behind with logging frequent meter readings for the (eventual) switch. Was trying o do it every few days, but forgot for a fortnight! Went to do it yesterday for eon, to be told they're no longer accepting readings for my account, but on edf am told not progressed enough.... How do I know the date of the switch over and corresponding meter readings if I wasn't told?! Edf haven't asked for reading to set the account up. Am really not impressed with them!

Anyways, on Friday we had travel arrangements severely disrupted due to the snow, so I've spent yesterday pottering about getting ready for winter. Today will be spent getting the house organised, as I practically hibernate! Best get to it. :)

Still 4 days to pay day :(

    Hi OS QS

Just a quick heads up. When you change supplier, the meter reading facility on our website is suspended as soon as the new supplier applies for your account.

Your new supplier will send us the readings they intend to use to start your new account. We'll use the same readings to close your account with us.

Hope this explains why you were unable to enter your readings.

Thanks for the response Malc. However, my issue was more of, if EDF ask for the meter readings on anyday other than the ones I've logged or current, then I wont be able to give an accurate reading on the specific day the switch took place?

Must say that in my opinion EON are much better in customer service than my current dealings with EDF, its just a shame they couldn't compete on price and that 7yrs loyalty didn't mean much!

    Thanks again

    Hi Again

I can see what you mean by not having the read of the exact day that you switch. What would normally happen is your new (gaining supplier) would ask you to read the meter, they will then use this reading to start your account from, they will send this reading to us (losing supplier) and we will close the account to the same reading.

You may take the meter reading a day or two out from the actual switch date, but as long as your new supplier starts you from the same reading as we close to there won’t be a problem.

We’re always sorry to see loyal customers leave us. We have now introduced loyalty rewards with our new Best Deal For You tariffs but seems we were just a little bit too late to keep you.

I hope I’ve cleared that up for you.

    Thanks,

Another month, another OP :) our usual £541.

OH wants to up our OP by £100 each, he's mentioned it a few times recently, however unless i do it, it doesnt happen. And I think that it might be a bit more sensible to up the OP after christmas. Especially with the house insurance, AA/RAC, and BT yearly line rental all to pay this month.
But I have been putting a bit more aside for the past few months, so hoping I can pay all due items from our Billing account.
Never tried this before, but then we've never been overpaying either! I think my OH will be super impressed at my organisation this year. If he isnt, then I definately am:rotfl:

Just updated my signature and have realised that there's only 1 scheduled OP left for the year, and that our usual £541 wont allow us to reach my target.

Maybe if all things due comes close to what i have set aside, then I'll make an additional £200 at the end of November and we'll hit the target.

Dont want to fail at the first year's attempt now, do we? Even if I initially picked the target to push us!

Just renewed the BT line rental - £129 down! But have noticed that they are expecting fibreoptic broadband to be available in our area in January. If that is the case, i'll have one very happy OH!

House insurance renewal in - £295. For once its the same as a new customer with the online discount, so relatively ok with that. Just away to do an online price comparison sanity check, then I'll be happy to let it auto-renew.

RAC breakdown will also auto renew in a couple of weeks. its a whole £8 cheaper than a new customer online, however quidco offers £55 cashback, so that's potentially £47 more expensive than the best deal, however, i find this cover very reassuring, especially with a 10yr old car! I'll have a chat with OH and see what he fancies doing.

Called up EON and gave my current meter readings, goodness knows what EDF are playing at! They've been 'registering my contract' for 6 weeks now, and its been almost 12 weeks since I initiated the switch. But seems like I will have a decent amount of credit refunded to me from EON, circa £150 :T

Have enough in the joint account for the House insurance and BT, but forgot about RAC!! :o Still easier to find £100 rather than the usual £550!

On the moneysaving side, I'm drying my clothes outside:rotfl:

Hi, I have been with RAC for years but checked on quidco and realised I would be better changing and getting cashback so called up to cancel and had a wee chat where the guy checked the cashback amounts online and matched their price for me, 5 mins and no hassle - may be worth a go?

Thanks skint_spice, I've asked OH to call up (since its in his name) so hopefully he can do it at the weekend.

Also noticed on £co that direct line insurance are now offering cash back, so might also call them up to see if they can match/offer any betterment. But regardless, they're still cheapest available (and also to £1.75 for checking through £co!)

Seems like I was literally hours too late in my BT money saving! :( I did the advance line rental and changed my call package on Saturday morning, and In the evening BT sent out a bill, checked it and its not recognised my discounts! I called them up, and seems I was too late for the billing, and they cat generate a new bill, so I have to pay full price, and get the discounts credited in February! What a joke! But least will have a 'nice' bill in February!:rotfl:

Called up EDF to see what's going on, and they have no idea! 11 weeks in and STILL registering!

Hmmmmm my EEBA app has shown that on Friday 16th I went over my £30/month allowance for lunches at work! i had budgeted 2/3 'bought' lunches a week for 4 weeks. The app helpfully suggests stop spending for 10 days! So will have to get creative with lunch:p

Clearly I've slipped into bad habits and gotten lazy with my packed lunches.
