  • Well the renewal quote arrived overnight (one day late) for £195. I doubt I will get cashback if I use Quidco again but I might get £20 if I use TopCashBack.

However all Admiral Group products (Admiral, Bell, Elephant and Diamond For Boys Too It Would Appear) are quoting me £175 for Protected NCD. In addition it appears £20 cashback is possibly available through Quidco, although only if AISL products are the same price through their website compare engine instead of confused.com

Also the conniving devious QuoteMeHappy won't show me what Proof Of Bonus they are providing until the cancellation time and date for the policy has been reached. So I don't how many years they are going to put down until I have already had to take a decision about whether to leave them.

The fact that Admiral has phone lines and also offers Guaranteed bonus protection too is inclined to make me switch across to them. I have been a happy customer of Admiral previously except when they tried to charge me a lot more for a renewal than a new customer taking the same product.

I have already cancelled the auto renewal on the QuoteMeHappy.com website.

I'd still cancel it at the bank, just in case they "accidentally" lose their record of you cancelling.

Warning: DO NOT give continuous payment authority on an American Express card. 3 years ago I had apparently [unwittingly] given a continuous payment authority to Sentinel card insurance for payment by American express credit card. I cancelled the card about 6 months later. The insurance was for 3 years , so 2 1/2 years after card cancellation the insurance company successfully charged the cancelled credit card about £100. The insurance company refused to cancel because by the time I received the credit card bill I was outside the 14 day cooling off period!.They also stated that cancellation would not result in refund for the unused period of the insurance!!. When I spoke to American Express they agreed the card was cancelled. They claim that it would be ILLEGAL for them to reject charges via continuous payment, even on cancelled accounts. After a considerable battle I have managed to persuade the insurance company (as a goodwill gesture) to refund the payment of a further 3 years cover. I asked American Express to refuse all future continuous payment authorities on the cancelled card [in case I had given any) . They refused, saying I can only cancel with the insurance company as the contract is between me and the insurer not between American Express and the insurer. I asked them to reconsider this refusal , as I know, from experience, that my Visa card payment by continuous authority was unpaid when I reported the card lost.
  • I used quotemehappy insurance and they hav the worst customer service.
They have app for making claims which doesn't work.
I sent them email and they answer that they are out of office till thursday.
I asked them too ring me but they never did.
I would't recommend them to anyone.

  • Yesterday I made a genuine mistake and cancelled my policy with QMH one month too early. A few hours after realising what I'd done I emailed QMH asking them to re-instate my policy. Naturally, as nothing ever seems to be straight forward these days they emailed me back stating:

    "Thank you for your email.
I have looked at your account, and I am really sorry, but I am afraid that we are unable to re-instate your policy due to the Motor Insurance Database Regulations.
We can only offer you cover until your policy lapses on the 24/01/2015, you will need to seek insurance elsewhere, as it is now an offence under the Road Traffic Act to fail to insure a motor vehicle without declaring it SORN with the DVLA.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.
    Thank you,
    Julie

I have no intention of committing an offence, hence my attempt to get my policy re-instated to finish on the original end date of the 24 Feb 2015.

Surely it is not difficult to re-instate my policy? We all make mistakes at times and unfortunately I'm not perfect. Also, I would not want to forego 4 years NCD, which is what I should receive when my policy actually expires on the 24/2/15. But because of my error they will only give me 3 years NCD.

I've written back to QMH stating that I'm not happy with their response but I've not yet received a reply. I'm also planning on calling the Ombudsman to get some clarity on this issue. But in the interim I'm wondering if any one in this forum can help me?

You are stuck with their response, and need to take out new cover to start tomorrow if you intend to keep your car on the road.

(see if they will offer a goodwill gesture on a new policy before going elsewhere)

They cannot give you any NCD for the cancelled policy as you haven't completed the full year

    Hi Quentin

Thank you very much for your response. They have actually written to me this afternoon and re-instated my policy, with no additional cost to myself.

I was pleasantly surprised and very relieved. I was not expecting such a positive outcome as I'm not usually lucky that way.

Hopefully I will also get 4 years NCD when the policy expires. (Fingers crossed).

    Thanks again.
  • I had an car insurance with quote me happy, decided not to renew and cancelled my policy, gor an acknowledgement of the cancellantion of the renewal. I followed up to cancell my direct debit and that saved me a alot.

Just before the insurance was about to expire i got an emailfrom them thanking me for renewing my insurance with them, I managed to get a telephone number and spoke to someone who adviced me to ignore the email as my renewal had been cancelled. I got another email from them a month later stating that they tried collecting money from my account through the direct debit but it was refused and that I had to pay the defaulted payment.

I have sent them several emails to no avail. But fortunately for me I cancelled my direct debit which if I hadn't would have caused me alot
