Mansion 23" led tv

This thread reminds me of others on MSE - does anyone remember the Utility Office scam, very similar to this (eventually taken down by Suffolk Trading Standards). 95% said they'd ordered and never got their Dyson, whereas 5% said they did, and some were as, lets say as defensive as the newbie on here. Its like a sort of Ponzi scheme, you take orders, deliver a percentage to those that make the most fuss, and hope the others just give up.
I can think of at least three schemes similar to this, they do "disappear" after awhile, but by then they've stashed the cash.
My advice to those that have ordered is to cancel in writing (preferably recorded),and request a refund, under LDS rules they have 30 days to refund, If they don't and you paid by CC, then you can request the CC to refund.
As for a certain individual claiming to be a JP, I know a few (for the right reasons!), and I suggest they would be more circumspect, and certainly not use internet slang such as "Good For You", which as we all know is usually attributed to another meaning. Still it is quite amusing if it wasn't so sad.0 -

So, regarding Mansion's service, I have to say that they have fulfilled our contract almost perfectly - the free HDMI lead hasn't appeared or been mentioned by them - nor enquired about on my part either, though. If it comes, great, but it was the telly I wanted!
You don't care about a warranty??0 -
Ok - Gatman's input changes the balance slightly - for the worse, if you're a buyer. The current count (including this thread and the other one on this forum) is now 18 newcomers who have joined this forum to say something about their experience of Mansion. The result so far is:
Negative - no TV received: 14
Positive (or OK) response: 4
So... it ~still~ looks to be an extremely high-risk way to buy a budget TV.
Interesting, however bear in mind that some guys do post under pseudonyms, so in fact "4" maybe an overstatement?
PS how many of the 4, or it 5 now, are newbies?0 -
It's been interesting and a strange thread, I agree with the above that it's pretty much like a Ponzi scheme and with the similar refusal to believe it is such a scheme/scam. MansionTV could be a business that the owners are genuinely trying to build up and succeed but the previous evidence suggests that in 6 months time they'll be long gone and popping up again as something new.
Never trust information given by strangers on internet forums0 -
This post is about a Mansion 32" TV, not the 23" model of the thread title. If a Mod needs to move it somewhere more appropriate then I apologise in advance.
To begin I should say that I'm no techie. My last TV was a 9 y-o CRT Beko and I was happy with that. Nor have I any connection with Mansion beyond owning their 32" LED telly which arrived just three days ago (see post above).
First out of the box was a heavy glass base plate. It's black, slimline with a clear perspex column for the TV to sit on. The odd thing is that the surface has several little blemishes - barely noticeable unless scratched (won't do that again!).
Then the TV itself, easily attached to the base with one screw. Set-up was straight forward - chose your country and the thing searches for a signal automatically. Only 1 SCART input but 3 HDMI - the latter untested as yet.
As I say, I'm no afficionado - I just wanted an affordable, watchable television. What I've received looks identical to that shown on their website. The styling is quite acceptable to me, with the logo no more intrusive than, say a Toshiba I've seen..
Rather annoyingly, there's a 2-3 second delay between pressing the power button on the remote and anything happening - so, for a beat, you're not sure if you've 'connected'. Then, a blue screen with the word 'MANSION' appears for a second or so. I can imagine having such blatant advertising thrust upon you every time you turn the telly on might irk some - it might me in time!
As for the picture .... well, to be honest, I've never seen an HD TV or Blueray doing its HD thing and I've never really been impressed by any standard LED TV I've seen in my limited experience. They seem to me to lose definition on things which are moving - in a way CRT TVs never did.
This Mansion is no different to any other LED I've seen in that respect. However, when the picture is of something static and close up it's remarkably good. Compared to a Sony and a Toshiba I've watched a bit in the past I have no complaints at all.
The sound and picture pre-sets weren't particularly to my taste but were easily altered to User to something I'm happy with.
Will it last? Who knows! But for £170 I'm happy enough!0 -

most suspect.
I have to say that I and most others are not interested in a review of the TV.
We are interested in the fact that people are not receiving the products for which they paid and the sharp practices of the people behind this and others similar websites set up by them.
I strongly advise people to not be swayed by these 'reviews' and they should certainly not ever give their CC security number out over the telephone to these people.
Thank you for your contribution.0 -
So, a JP, also an acknowledged expert in electronics, and therefore, at a guess not short of a bob or two.
KJEG, wanting to buy a new T.V., decides to buy a Chinese cheapie from a dodgy online dealer, rather than go to the nearest dealer in Panasonic, Sony, or even Lowe.
Is it any wonder people are sceptical?0 -

Given that my own efforts to find independent opinions on this product drew a blank I thought it might be helpful to post what I received for my money and this thread seemed the most appropriate place to me. It was hardly a shining endorsement, but it was fair and honest and I hope of interest to some if not to you.
I understand and appreciate that youare interested in the fact that people are not receiving the products for which they paid ....
However, are you actively NOT interested in the fact that someone HAS received their TV? Would you rather people who haven't had a bad experience didn't post here? It certainly does seem so and leaves people like me in an unfortunate position.
I'm a frequent user of two (totally unrelated) forums and a moderator on one, so I'm well aware of forum politics and the lack of any credibility a Newbie has. I'm not offended, but it is a shame that you instantly seek to disparage new posters when their experience runs contrary to yours.... and they should certainly not ever give their CC security number out over the telephone to these people.0 -

Strangely enough, all of 5 of them joined specifically to start posting in this thread.
The latest new arrival continues the theme of posting large amounts of information.
For example, this one joined up this morning and in his/her first two posts has chosen to write over a thousand words about Mansion.
Odd behaviour, you might think, but if you look back, this pattern of behaviour looks very much like KJEG's - though the latter still holds the record (by a long way) for the most amount of irrelevant rubbish dumped on this thread.0
