Has anybody ordered (as per post 6, paid over the phone via CC but gave the 3 digit security number) and received their TV OK?

The reason I'm asking is a friend of mine has done just that this morning! I'm a little concerned for his CC account after reading the above.

I'd tell him to err on the side of caution and make sure the card is cancelled. The alarm bells ringing from this company make a police siren seem discreet.

Thanks - I've got to say I agree with you. I'll pass on the message.
  • My step daughter wanted to purchase a tv from them 3 weeks ago. I told her to use her credit card in case of 'difficulties'. They continually told her they guaranteed to deliver it on a specific day and when she rang to confirm delivery they guaranteed delivery on a future day. This continued on up to two and three times per week, until she cancelled the order today, 04/04/12. We have given them three working days to refund the money to her credit card or we will raise a complaint with the credit card company, with a view to them refunding the money and they can sort out Mansion TV.

As we thought - no TVs. My friend has contacted Trading Standards who don't seem to be doing much to investigate.

I see Mansion have now removed the company number from their site that we mentioned before.

Now, will we get a post from a newly signed up member saying how pleased they are with their purchase and how fast, helpful and well priced it was?

Quite possibly, but while we wait for said "customer" to turn up, a couple more things that ring bells (in case you need any more):

None of the trade directories for Belmont Industrial Estate have an entry for Mansion TV in them.

Also, for a company that claims that it has only just been set up, the following looks a bit odd in their Privacy Policy:

"If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page. Policy changes will apply only to information collected after the date of the change. This policy was last modified on August 6, 2003."

Until you Google for the phrase in bold, and find that numerous apparently scam-based sites have copied these words from somewhere in a very poor effort to make their website look legitimate.
  • Just a quick update. I got my step daughter to ring her credit card company to check for unauthorised transactions. It was ok but the credit card company are sending her a claim form after she discussed her worries. I'll keep you all updated on how it works out.
