Hi there,
Here are some more sites. I have used some of these patterns too. However, many are U.S. sites and so you will need to translate the patterns a little bit as they use different abbrevations, needles sizes to U.K. patterns.
All the sites listed below have a link on them to free patterns.

If you do go into the charity shops you may have to ask, our local shop keeps the needles (dangerous wepons!) and patterns in a big box behind the counter! They have loads and also needles in all sizes.Smile it confuses people!0

try cancer research shops, ours sell them seperated from magazines, for a donation in a box.0

Hi,
can any one help me ?
I'm looking for a pattern for a waistcoat/ sleeveless tunic using LOPI Icelandic wool. Have tried the Internet and local shops with no success.
Tried to find a pattern for other chunky wool but don't seem to be any for sleeveless.
thanks.

My friend has just knitted a wasitcoat for her Mum in Sirdar Ultra denim which is a chunky yarn. It had an eyelash yarn trimming around the neck but that could be missed off or substituted I would think and maybe adapted for what you want if you fiddled with the tensions etc.0

Do you have any info on needle size or tension it knits to?
I have a couple of patterns in different chunky yarns that knit to slightly different tensions. I could copy them and send on.
You could always use a v neck cardi pattern, and instead of sleeves, just put a rib around the armhole, as long as the pattern is for set in sleeves or dropped shoulders.
