Jedi - you will get better at it as you go along and if you were to price comparrison on say mysupermarket you will see that you have saved quite a bit in all.

My Lidl is reasonably near and only a short diversion on my way home from work so it's not actually too bad! It means I can almost weekly shop there if I wish. Don't get disheartened about how much you have spent either if that lot lasts you for three weeks and you only have to do top up shops here and there then you will see the benefits of it even out. Might be worth you doing the Grocery challenge which will help you as well :)

Their tinned macaroni cheese is fab as are their version of li-lets.

Don't like the bread, but the toasting waffles are great.

Choc spread so much cheaper than Nutella.

Agreed paracetamol and ibuprofen pennies in there.

Fruit and veg great oh and those gorgeous 6 for 99p frozen fresh cream do nuts. Yum.

All the major supermarkets are at least 12 miles away, and we use our local shops a lot. As OH passes through our main town on his way back from voluntary work each Monday, though, he always calls into Lidl with a shopping list! :)
  • I shop in Lidl a lot as we only have Mr T, cO-*P, Lidl where I live. My best Lidl secrets are Chicken and Pasta soup, it's in really big tins and costs 89p, I've served that to lots of people and they always think its HM, Parmesan cheese is also a good buy as is their dry cure bacon. Also when they do the French theme the huge tins of dauphenois tatties are ace, likewise packets of pan fried potatoes are really tasty. I can also recommend bags of frozen thin chips'french style' I think they are called. Their colesalw and potato salad is lovely too and in really big tubs. They are cheap for staples such as tinnned tomatoes and if your into olives they are a good buy too.
