I use them often. Although the tin says "bean salad" it isn't actually salad per se. It's really cooked, mixed beans in brine. I drain them and chuck them in soup in the winter, or drain them and put vinaigrette dressing on in summer.
Speaking of vinaigrette, L!dl have an offer of one litre of virgin olive oil on at the moment for £2.99 until Wednesday plus their balsamic vinegars, white and red wine versions are very good, too.0 -
We like;
Tinned Sweetcorn(sooo much nicer than the supermarket value stuff)
Passata
Tinned Toms(nice rich sauce, none of that watery stuff)
Toilet Rolls
Jam
Big tubs of yoghurt
Wraps(got some very big ones for 69p today)
Smoked Salmon
Frozen prawns(very good value!)
Chorizo
Parma ham
Fresh Tortelini(only about 65p a packet!)
Mayonaise(in a squeezey bottle)
Bread Flour
Mozzarella(definately worth stocking up!)
Their fresh herbs are pretty good value too.
Have funthinking of all this is making me want to go again and I only went earlier!

If its anything like my local Aldi or Lidl - be prepared for the items to come through the checkout at the speed of light! both me and OH are there as 'catchers' and we still find it hard work to keep up!
Nothing like Adsa or Tresco where the cashiers feel the need to examine and comment on each item!
I love it! I absolutely hate the big four at checkout! no reason whatsoever for them to be so slow!0 -
OH!! And take your own bags as Lild charge 3p each for the flimsy ones!0

Yes, most of their stuff is pretty good - can only add the frozen cod and haddock fillets (breadcrumbs or batter) to the acres of recommendations above (not over keen on their booze myself).0

I've not tried the Lidl one, but I use tinned bean salad too. I also drain it and rinse and add celery and some red onion, or spring onions too along with the vinaigrette - put in some Dijon or wholegrain mustard too. Very yummy.
And agree the Balsamic vinegar and oils are good too.

The curry sauces in the jars are better than the likes of Sharwoods & the ready meals use the same sauce & are far better than any other ready made curry I've ever tasted outside the take away.0

I. Think it would have been easier to ask what ppl don't like, giggle. I've enjoyed everything, I like you tried it for the first time last week, I'll never change now, enjoy your trip! And you won't spend much and if you think you have check how much it would have cost you at your local. X0

Thank you all so much for your wonderful advice! Me and DD2 had a great time wandering the aisles. I remembered my own bags and got most of the stuff you all recommended. I had a huge shopping trolley full and spent a staggering £103  which did dishearten me slightly until I got home and realised that I had full cupboards and fridge (esp with lots of lovely fruit and veggies) and I also had a 60 wash washing powder and some beer for my DH.
Will definitely go again next month but like someone else mentioned, I need to be quicker at packng my bags!!
Thanks again
