Parking notice at Warwick univerity

Hi
My husband got a parking notice at Warwick uni last week where he attends a night class. Its a private company ticket stating code 7, parked as to cause obstruction or inconvenience to others.

He says he was half on the pavement although it was in an area where no one walks.

I know the advice is that they cannot enforce payment but what happens in this situation where he admits he was parked incorrectly? Also another person told my husband he saw the attendant photographing his car.

Should we just pay up?

Thanks

Providing its a private parking company the advice is to ignore completely unless signed and stamped court papers arrive through the letter box, the code 7 junk is just an attempt for their fake charge to resemble a real council penalty charge. They in general don't do court and when they do they get beaten as this is a penalty that they are not allowed to give.

Who is the parking company by the way ?
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Hi
Its Car Parking partnership, there is a pic of one on the sticky for another uni.

I've also looked on the Uni website and it explains what would happen if not parked correctly. Just worried that if we ignore it as he admits to parking where he shouldnt have. (Him and another ten or so others including the tutor!)

It makes no difference. I know my car overstayed when it was issued with a fake PCN. It was still a fake PCN and a scam!

Car Parking Partnership (aka Liberty Printers) are just a private firm using fake PCN and letters to impersonate authority. They have no more power to fine your son than I do. They never do Court, they just pretend they can fine people and prey on the uninformed and gullible.

I hope all his friends and the tutor didn't all get a fake ticket too? If they did pleeeeeease tell your son to quickly send them this thread link so they can see it's all a scam and they can safely ignore the whole thing, letters and all.

Here's a recent thread in a similar vein:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3758099

Here's the whole forum threads index - read a few threads, especially the top thread showing all the letters these scam companies use (please don't think they 'must be legit' just because the Uni puts details on their website and lets them carry out their protection racket there!):

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

There is also a Watchdog clip on that link in the top thread as well. Should put everyone's mind at rest. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN EXCEPT LETTERS.

  • Hi
Thanks for you reply - although actually my husband not my son - and yes thats def the one it says trading name of Liberty Printers. I'm just a bit concerned as well as he didnt pay and display either (wasn't in the car park that requires this, just parked along the road). In a couple of threads that i have read people have paid etc and feel like we're rule breaking!

In Martins info it does state 'unfair' and not completely convinced this is! Scared of the consequences i suppose!

Sorry, reading quickly in my lunch break at work - hubby not son! :D

All private parking charge notices are unfair - Martin's article was from 3 years ago and for his own good reasons he hedged his bets a little! We don't, on this forum, we call a spade a spade! Even if hubby had parked sideways in a parent and child bay at Tesco and stayed 3 days, we would say the same.

Ignore the scammers. Nothing will happen. Ask your OH to make sure no-one is daft enough to fall for it.

  • Ok!!! We'll be brave! Should we expect follow up letters? And should they all just be filed in a drawer?!

I think CPP use just the letters shown in the top thread, or you could look at the other CPP threads on here and see what others have said they received.

And yes, just file them all - do nothing at all in the absence of real sealed Court papers (which will never arrive).

Yes, you'll receive threatograms to file away.

Even as private parking invoices go, this is an especially flimsy attempt. They are simply limited to losses suffered from any obstruction. I can't even fathom what kind of loss they could have suffered from a car parking on the pavement, short of damaging the tarmac. And then they'd be expected to obtain quotes for the repair.

They are relying on having offered you a contract offering you the service of parking in an obstructive manner in exchange for £xx. The contract is as absurd and unenforceable as it sounds.
